“Value for Money”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

We stayed here for two nights and found the room to be very comfortable. Although it was relatively small it seemed to have been refurbished. The bathroom was probably the smallest we have ever experienced in a hotel - there was, however, plenty of hot water. We were expecting the room to be noisy, positioned as it was, in the pub car park, but we were not disturbed by noice at all.

Apart from breakfast, which we found to be very good, we did not eat here.

All in all, we found the Tamworth Arms to be good value for money and would return.

Stopped for one night at this pub due to attending a wedding in Tamworth. Clean and extremely good value for money, the staff were very friendly and breakfast was very good. Would stop again without hesitation, other places in Tamworth are double the amount of money and are nowhere as good.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a night out in tamworth, when we arrived we were greeted with a smile and very friendly atmosphere, the pub was quite busy with man utd vs spurs on the large plasma tvs dotted round the pub, we payed and were shown to our rooms, just outside the pub is a seperate building where the rooms are located, every inch of the hall is imaculate and when we got into the room it was the same, samsung lcd tv on the wall, sparkling bathroom, and heavyly made up bed and the words out my girlfriends mouth was "oooh wow its lovely" and i agreed, heating was on but can be turned down to the desired setting, coffee and tea makeing was there and anything else u expect to find, we showered and got changed and went and had a awesome night on the town, town is 2 mins steady walk but 2 or 3 pubs on route that were very friendly, the next morning we went down for breakfast and had full english breakfast with tea/coffee toast cereal fresh orange juice etc, when we left we were asked if everything was ok with our stay and couldnt thank them enough.

we will without doubt be staying here again over xmas and cant wait, if anyone has a problem with this hotel i would be amazed !!!

Easy to find, but apparently only on-street parking. Gather there is a private car park, but wasn't evident or pointed out to me. This is a pub with rooms, so entry is through the pub, which might be a bit intimidating. Very friendly staff, and rooms all look very new. Initially , this looked fantastic, good desk, plenty of room for laptop, etc. Unfortunately, didn't quite live up to expectations. Radiator couldn't be turned off, and was on full blast. My room was on the main road side, and extremely noisy due to traffic noise. Had to open sash window initially due to heat, but even with windows closed it was very noisy. With good double-glazing there should be no problem, however, if they install it... Great modern TV and remote - but unfortunately most freeview programmes couldn't be received due to inadequate signal. There was free WiFi - but not available from my room, with zero signal.

Couple of petty gripes - bed surface filled with four big cushions. WHY?? Who uses them?? My first action was to stuff them out of the way on top of the wardrobe!
Nice kettle (actually, too big, really, though I normally moan that hotel kettles are too small) However, couldn't be plugged in where the tray was, and only just (by about 1cm!) had long enough cable to plug in when on desk. Plenty of tea and coffee supplies, which is really nice.

Lovely large shower towels (only shower provided in my room) - but no shower gel/shampoo, just some wrapped soap bars. Very comfy bed, big bed lights on each side (though massive shades, OK to read by, but might have been nice to have had simpler, smaller directional lights - when you read in bed at night you want a simple directed light that can be moved to illuminate just the book. Big drawback was no net curtains, so had to have the big blinds down to prevent the world seeing me get dressed!

Good breakfast and service - not sure about the large jars of jams from which you have to serve yourself - nicer to have a small serving ready on the table. Oh, and the TV was really loud at breakfast, though I suppose I could have asked for it to be turned down... Would have been nice if someone had checked that my stay was OK, as could have fed this back to them rather than here! Did mention the radiator to breakfast staff, however. When they solve these petty glitches, this will be a great place to stay.

Didn't eat in the pub in the evening, but the simple menu looked really good, and good value.
