“Family meal on the way to Alton Towers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We chose this on the basis of the reviews and that it's pretty much on the way to Alton Towers, our final destination. The pub is charming and well maintained. The owners have tried really hard. The menu is in essence a traditional pub menu. Pies steaks etc but they also do a kids menu and a good selection of vegetarian meals, which is unusual. I had the steak and kidney pie, which was superb and my husband had fish and chips. The children had beam burgers and carbonara. All seemed cooked from fresh. The puddings were traditional sponge puddings and custard, which were good. If I had to find something to criticise, my vegetables were left a little long under the heat lamp. It's was about £80 for the four of us- drinks and just two of us having starters. All in all, good value and a reliable bet for a good meal mixed with good staff and a nice ambience. There were clearly regulars and all ages of customers which is another good sign.

“Quiet buisness lunch.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

2 for lunch today. Sat in the garden to eat. The food was really good and the service from Paul and Mark was excellant. Even went to the trouble of serving a fruit dessert which was not on the menu. All very nice and very reasonably priced for the quality. Thank you both. Service with a smile too.

“Not worth going to”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

We have been before under different management and the food was basic but good
Now it's basic and good but forget the wine especially the glass with the steaks on a Wednesday night rubbish
As for the menu it's a pub with pub food nothing to write home about and nice if you are a local but not if you have to drive any distance you would be disappointed as there was nothing on the menu that was different
Try it you may like it but I doubt if we will be back

Hi there I wasn't there on the evening (yesterday0 but had heard your comments about the wine.
The wine is part of a meal deal we offer, a good steak and a glass of wine at £11.95 which you obviously opted for. No it isn't Chateau neuf du pap we make no bones about there, but most people tend to like it and appreciate the deal that's why it's generally always a busy night.
taking on your subjective comments, I would like to point out that the previous owners used a considerable amount of frozen food where as ours is always fresh, Clearly your taste buds let you down there too!.
We know our station too we offer good pub food we aren't in search of any restaurant stars!!!!!

“Consistently exquisite!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

My partner & I have frequented the Dog & Partridge in Marchington many times. Always had a warm welcome and the food is tremendous, especially the steak nights and the Tapas nights! Ensure you book a table otherwise you will be disappointed if you turn up and they are full bursting! We are returning this week!

“Family Meal while camping at Forestside Farm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Had an excellent Sunday meal here with our family. Only I chose to have a roast but all the food was superb, clean plates all round. The staff and landlord are very friendly and cant do enough to help. Will definitely return next time we are in the area.
