“Superb food and a lovely evening.”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

We've been to the Dog and partridge several times before, usually for a jar and some live music on a Sunday evening.
We took my girlfriends parents there on Friday, the food was excellent and reasonably priced as we're the real ales. The service was also very good.
We had a great evening and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this pub.

Having been a few times with my partner we decided to take my parents for a "thank you" meal after a recent holiday.
The welcome was lovely. The food was awesome! The service was great.
The real ale was perfect. Wine super.
All in all a lovely evening!
Thank you.

“Lovely food”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 via mobile

Came for lunch, lovely food had something off their main menu which was delicious, in the past had the lunch menu which is excellent value for money but the main menu is reasonable and really good quality and large selection of grills, pub classics and veggie options. Enjoyed once again will be back.

“Friendly Traditional Pub”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Called in for lunch on our way to Derbyshire. We were so pleased we had left the main road and discovered this traditional pub. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. We used the special lunch menu -very reasonable. 2 courses for £7-95 and the food was excellent. Home cooked and really good value. We highly recommend this pub. We understand that if you eat in the evening you are advised to book.

“Family meal on the way to Alton Towers”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We chose this on the basis of the reviews and that it's pretty much on the way to Alton Towers, our final destination. The pub is charming and well maintained. The owners have tried really hard. The menu is in essence a traditional pub menu. Pies steaks etc but they also do a kids menu and a good selection of vegetarian meals, which is unusual. I had the steak and kidney pie, which was superb and my husband had fish and chips. The children had beam burgers and carbonara. All seemed cooked from fresh. The puddings were traditional sponge puddings and custard, which were good. If I had to find something to criticise, my vegetables were left a little long under the heat lamp. It's was about £80 for the four of us- drinks and just two of us having starters. All in all, good value and a reliable bet for a good meal mixed with good staff and a nice ambience. There were clearly regulars and all ages of customers which is another good sign.
