It's only 10 minutes away by bus from Gatwick Airport. If you're not traveling by car, the only option you have it to take the shuttle service that costs £7 per person to get to the airport and back. We ended up traveling to London by coach (about 1 1/2 hour ride), as there's no other reasonably priced way to get to London otherwise.
The residence has a huge parking lot, but the building could use a fresh paint job. The hotel is surrounded by huge fields and beautiful scenery (very nice for a little walk around the village!). Being so close to the airport, you do hear the planes flying pretty low, but it's really not that bad at all (probably because you can't open the windows in your room...). The Staff was helpful and friendly, one of them even got stamps for us at midnight for our post cards (which ended up taking almost 2 months to arrive in Austria... not enough postage paid). The entrace hall was huge and nicely furnished and has free wifi. Our room had a good sized double bed with a firm mattress. Sheets were clean and there's a spare blanket + pillows in the small wardrobe. The bathroom was clean but had a faint smell of bleach. Towels were provided. There's a kettle next to the really small, old TV. I wanted to use the tea cups that were in the cupboard under the TV, but the kettle was dirty and the cups dusty. Unfortunately, the walls seemed to be quite thin, as I heard the neighbour watching TV the other night. Reception on my phone was super bad in our room.
We tried the buffet in their own restaurant. There wasn't much to choose from, though. Food was okay (I had turkey with potatos and veggies with gravy), but not worth the £12,50 per person.
In general, our stay there was okay for what we paid. We didn't spend much time there, mostly for sleeping. What kept us from sleeping once was an unannounced fire alarm test in the middle of the night and at 10AM the next morning again...
We probably wouldn't stay there again, we'd rather invest those £14 we spent every day to get into town in a hotel closer to the city or with better public transport services.

Room Tip: no wifi in the bedrooms check kettle before using bar closes around 10PM windows can't be opened...

A very large hotel and I must say the staff are all very helpful, the food was OK (we sat down at 1800hrs) the rooms were dated but clean, small TV and kettle for tea, close to Gatwick and worth booking a taxi it was £20.00 return (April 2014) on the plus we parked our car in the very large car park and took our keys with us (the car was safe and sound when we returned) price it was very good value..

We stopped here for 3 nights during a coach holiday and the hotel itself even though is dated its not that bad. Our room was on ground level towards back past restaurant/bar and we found it to be ok. It was clean, basic with the old style tv which did not have the best channel reception it just needed reprogramming/updating and it was much better.
The bed could do with replacing as others have said as the mattress had obviously gone past the used by time.

The bar is small and as we are not drinkers we ordered a blackcurrant and water and even though we went back up to get more blackcurrant put in it as it tasted weak it still tasted weak, we should of just asked for a glass of tap water (which is free) because this so called blackcurrant must be watered down as it was total crap.

The restaurant was nicely set out and the staff told you where to sit each time but unless you put something on the chair to let people know the seat was taken they would place someone else there!! So when you came back with your plate of food your seat was gone so we just then took it upon ourselves to sit else where. They need to make a note of what seats have been allocated out as they are very forgetful or should I say disorganisedl!
The food choice is carvery (3 choices of meat and then veg and roast spuds) every night apart from a small salad bar and rice served with whatever choice they put out to go with it. Soup with bread rolls and the dessert was very similar each night.

If you have any food allergies these people know nothing of what they are serving. I am gluten free and they offered no bread rolls, no alternatives for desserts and didn't know if the toppings for rice had gluten in! So they just expect you to put up with having carvery everynight or a salad with limited choice if your not willing to take the risk!
Breakfast was cereal/porridge, bacon, fried eggs, beans, sausages, hash browns and tomatoes and continental style, plus bread. I myself was not offered gluten free bread as I was told by restaurant manager " we don't do gluten free! ". So again limited choice for breakfast for allergy sufferers.

Lucky for us allergy sufferers there is a new law coming out on 13th December 2014 which means all hotels etc... providing meals have to provide signs stating allergy info available on request and if asked by customer they have to give listed ingredients of the meal. Roll on December :-)

Room Tip: This hotel has no lifts

Stayed here Apr 12 before flying to Mexico. Stayed in one of the renovated non smoking rooms, clean and adequate for one night . For price paid 15 nights parking and a 3course meal (nothing special but nothing wrong with it either) it was good value we might have been lucky with room we had did here others complaining . All in all ok for price easy to find n convenient for airport.

Unfortunatly we were dissapointed, the only reason I gave this a poor rather than terrible is the staff who were all lovely, especially the bar man offering us drinks despite our late time of arrival.
Unfortunatly that is the only positive! I booked this hotel as it was cheap, we were only to be there for 3.5 hours due to our early flight, but honestly, I wish I had listened to the reviews. The whole place smells damp, our room can only be described as a cupboard, the bed was tucked into a corner and wasn't even long enough, at 5'7" I expect to be able to lay straight in bed, the bathroom was damp and the tiles were cracked. We both oped to remain in our clothes ontop of the sheets at the was some suspect stains inside the bed. The bus service was ok, only running every hour is abit of a nightmare as we missed it by minutes on the way back, and a taxi was £16!
Please listen to the reviews on this one, you will be dissapointed!!!

Room Tip: Book a different hotel!

We booked an overnight stay here before an early morning fight from Gatwick. On arrival the hotel looks abit rundown and obviously needs money spent on it. We booked in quickly and were allocated a room in the new wing on the ground floor.

The room was small but spotlessly clean the bathroom had had a refit was small but had a damp smell. We had booked the room to ensure a good nights sleep before a longhaul flight but the bed was the most uncomfortable me and my husband had EVER slept in and we spent most of the night awake - so much for planning!!

We had booked an evening meal which was a carvery this was okay and served its purpose - the bar prices were expensive.

So would we return - No. But if you are looking for a hotel near Gatwick with parking it serves it purpose.

Well where does one start! Apart from the I'll manared and dismissive customer relations manager NICOLA FLETCHER there is nothing about this hotel that I can honestly say is good.
Our first night on holiday was ruined by the lack of sleep due to the 1950's mattress ..honestly unbelievable.
Felt a sharp digging in my side In the night only to discover in the morning the broken springs poking through the 1950's mattress!! The wall paper in the room is hanging off, the floor is rotten, the bathroom tiles were broken and had 3tubes of silicone stuffed between the cracks. Honestly for a known name as BRITTANIA they should be well ashamed. As for the so called relations manager who we complained to NICOLA FLETCHER Couldn't give a hoot. She should be sacked. Health and hygiene will be getting involved. Disgusting hotel.
