“By far the worst hotel i have ever encountered!”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

We stayed at the russ hill hotel for 3 night whilst working in london.
The hotel is extremely out dated and has absolutely zero atmosphere. The room we had was absolutely horrendous. We had one tiny window, which couldnt open fully because there was a huge white wall about 12 inches from the window. If you get a key with the number 246 immediately request another room, it is a prison cell. No extractor fan in the bathroom, so after one shower the bathroom is a steam room.
Worst of all was the shocking standard of food. It was horrendous. Ordered of the menu in the bar. Pizzas look like they are £2 asda own brand! But the hotel is more than happy to charge you £10-12 for this, along with the fish which also looks like its come from a frozen pack of a box of 50! Im not food critic but it was horrendous and the price for the dishes is way to much for the quality of food.
I would massively recommend that people avoid this hotel at all costs. All the negative reviews on here are exactly as they read. We dont expect much from a 3 star, but we do expect the basics, which they couldnt even do!
Extremely dissapointed.

My son likened Russ Hill to Fawlty Towers but without the laughs. The beds were absolutely appalling, the springs actually protruded from the mattress causing much discomfort until I laid the duvet over the mattress before laying again on it. The food in the restaurant was inedible, it was inedible... such a bad to start to our holiday. Thankfully on my return my car was okay.

The hotel was extremely dated, lacking in any kind of atmosphere or appeal.

The menu showed food served all day, however we tried to order food at 5pm to be told they did not serve until 6pm.

We got back from a wedding at 10.30 to find the bar closed and the lights beinf turned off.

Breakfast was swimming in grease and very unappealing.

A very noisy, dated and poor hotel

We stayed at the hotel for two nights, the first room we were put in had a broken shower so we were moved, this was dealt with quickly. We had breakfast in the restaurant one morning which was OK but the staff working were quite rude and packed up around us as we were eating. We also ate in the on-site pub on evening, the food was terrible (gammon over cooked and left on heating plate too long and the steak and ale pie was full of fatty meat and pastry which was undercooked). There are places in the local village with excellent food for a similar price.

I have to say that majority of the staff were friendly and helpful but I wouldn't rush back to stay here again.

Stayed here in June in order to travel fresh the next day. You get what you pay for a basic room. Cheap to leave your car and bus to airport. Pick up is also good when returning. Hotel is VERY DATED and boring in the evening but you get value for ££ its only good if you just want a good nights sleep for your flight. Not a hotel for anything other than one night business stays or airports stays. I am satisfied with my stay and have done two yrs running.

Stayed for one night as part of a National Holidays trip to Legoland , it took us 2.5 hrs to get here from legoland due to traffic and a road accident (driver said it would take aprox 1.5). First thing that hit me in reception was a smell of damp. Room was very small and dated (think early 80s b n b, two single beds pushed up against each other (room was a twin room) ,room also had a damp fusty smell to it ,tiny bath room difficult to shut door once in as no room to move ,shower had to be running for 10mins before water was hot ,shower was powerful once it warmed up ,On the positive the sheets were clean and bed was comfy ,dindnt really hear the planes till about 5 in the morn so it was pretty quite ,food was luke warm on the evening but that could have been due to not arriving till late due to the traffic ,only one choice of sausage and chips for the kids ,
chilli con carne or ham with veg for the adults didnt stay for pudding ,food looked better in the bar area £5.00 for a large glass of wine and a coke was cheaper than i thought it would be. Breakfast was hot and there was chips !! never seen chips at breakfast before

This Hotel is dated but OK for one nights stay. Our room was clean very small and very hot. Buffet dinner and breakfast OK for the price. They do not charge for one night parking. Would stay again as close to Gatwick Airport.
