I stayed here for a night and was very impressed. I had stayed here previously when it was called The Pride Of The Valley and will the setting was fantastic it was looking tired and in need of a major refurb. Now that it has had a sympathetic makeover I am pleased to say it now does justice to its surroundings. My room was large, clean and comfortable while still looking period. I ate dinner in the restaurant and can recommend the scallops and the steak. Breast fast was nice as well and was made to order. Finally the staff were attentive and courteous and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Had been to their sister pub/restaurant in Godalming many moons ago and was unaware that this was here less than 5 miles from us.
It is simply wonderful. The decor, lighting and furnishings are so well put together, I'd like to live here. The staff were pleasant and attentive and happy to chat. The food was incredible. The chef who ever he is, is incredible. Every flavour perfect, styling and plating up was designed beautifully, it was inviting you in and the simple proof was we had four clean plates at every course.
We ate well, had some champagne(glasses not bottle) a bottle of wine and coffees/teas on top of the three courses and it under £40.00 per head, the more than warranted(which is rare these days) service tip of 10% we were very happy to pay. The problem is now everywhere in the future we eat out at will be judged against this gastro pub, surely they will not cut it. So no need to go anywhere else, so that's that sorted.
I was talking to one of the managers and she said they are already taking christmas bookings, not a surprise.
Seek it out and enjoy. Truly outstanding. Thank you Bel & Dragon Churt.

I booked the Bel & Dragon Churt as a birthday treat for my husband. We left our one year old with her grand parents and had the most wonderful and reviving break! Mike, the manager, and his staff were all extremely friendly and provided great service. The food was superb and next time we will definitely stay for lunch to try out the pizza oven in the garden! We stayed in the family room which was lovely and quiet with a very comfy bed which was just what we needed! Our only regret is that we stayed for one night and not two! We will return!

This was excellent. I had 2 relaxing days and two parties at nearby friends.

Comfy bed, crisp white bedlinen, modern and light interior decor throughout. Staff and Manager as friendly as they come - and efficient.

No complaints just two extras that would help:

Better lighting for make-up either in the bathroom or in the room.

My room was light and delightful looking out over the gardens but some rooms face on to the road and I'm told there can be noisy gatherings outside the bar/hotel. So ask if it is rest you are looking for.

Room Tip: Darcy was great but sadly Mr Darcy didn't show up!

We stayed over last weekend for a couple of nights for a wedding in the area. Having booked because of the recommendations on Trip Advisor, we were not disappointed. Mike, the Manager, made us feel so welcome and the whole ambiance of the Bel & Dragon is delightful. The décor is beautiful with the rooms named after Jane Austin characters - we stayed in the Fitzwilliam suite which was lovely - though I think most ladies would have like to be stayed in Darcy! There were just so many nice little touches, like the sloe gin in the room, the little area upstairs with tea/coffee making facilities and a couple of decanters with whisky. It was lovely to get back from our wedding on the Friday evening, and meet up with another group who were also staying for a wedding, and have a 'wee dram' before we retired for bed! The beds are so comfortable and the rooms lovely and clean. We were joined by friends from the States and a friend from Hong Kong, and they absolutely loved it, and the quality of the food. We only ate in the restaurant one evening and it was excellent. The breakfasts for us were sufficient, as they offer fresh orange juice, cereals, yoghurts, bread/toast, and then a couple of egg options or one of the tastiest breakfasts I've ever had - their pancakes with maple syrup, banana, fruits, cream and bacon - believe me it was delicious - thanks Chef! I also loved the fresh flowers on the table, the classic novels around the place, the newspapers and comfortable seating area by the reception desk. Finally, this place would not be the same without the helpful and welcoming staff. Thank you so much for making our trip so comfortable - we will be back as we would like to explore more of the area!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Fitzwilliam suite, which was comfortable though overlooking the main road, but we d...

outstanding meal, and exceptional customer service. We were treated like kings from the moment we walked in. Mike, who was the manager that night made sure the whole experience was memorable and my friends were very impressed !. The food was second to none and espresso martini's went down like a treat. We'll be back in a flash!.

Well done.

Ryan.

Over from the States to celebrate a friend's wedding, we stayed at Bel & The Dragon. Absolutely 1st Rate. The Food was wonderful and the Staff thoughtful and attentive. The 2nd Floor "after hours" gathering spot was wonderful. We sampled some fine Whiskey until the wee hours of the morning.
