“Good value”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

This is a regular haunt for us. The menu is varied - there is always something new to try. The value is excellent and the service very prompt. Can be a bit noisy sometimes, depending on how many large parties are there, but still worth it.

Fine dining it is not; but where else can you get 3 courses - cooked nicely, served efficiently, generously portioned, at a perfectly adequate standard, with wine, for well under £20? Full marks for this neighbourhood 'jack of all trades' restaurant which always leaves you with a good feeling. Pleasant people giving real value for money. You might say, "Why would you cook at home when The Boulevard can provide for such a reasonable price?" For what it is - first class.

“Great value and choice”

A real good mix of meals and very good prices. Clean, friendly place. We all enjoy the visit. Would like them to sell cider but apart from that, the place is excellent.

“Always good food!”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

Another Christmas Day lunch at Boulevard that didn't disappoint! Five courses, good quality food with friendly service and reasonably priced. The Venison Goulash was a winner!
I wasn't surprised it was very busy with families, couples etc.,The atmosphere was festive and I'll be booking again for Christmas 2014!

“Interesting and original menu”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

Was invited here for a friend's birthday.

Ambiencewise, not especially cosy but comfortable, background music could have been a tad quieter but certainly not loud enough to interfere with conversation.

We were quickly seated, service was prompt but not pushy.

Menu, especially the Specials board, offered some interesting items.

Staff were happy to look after my partner's dietary requirements (gluten-free and veggy).

I started with Deep Fried Crablets (which turned out to be bits of crab, not baby ones!). This was tasty and nicely cooked though not different enough to be memorable.

For the main course I chose the Venison Goulash. I was a little worried that the flavourings in the Goulash would overpower the meat but Chef had evidently erred on the cautious side and nicely preserved the 'wild' taste of the venison. It's a dish that I would certainly order again.

Dessert I skipped in favour of a glass of good quality Armanac.

Costwise, excluding the many bottles of Merlot, the meal came to around £20 per head.

A competent establishment with some original ideas. Recommended.
