“Great hotel, disgusting breakfast”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

I love the hotel itself - it is a new, modern, clean building with efficient and accommodating staff. It has some of the nicest room available under 100 pounds in the London area. I would give the hotel a rating of 5 and recommend it to everyone if it's not for the absolutely disgusting breakfast. Cardboard sausages, scrambled eggs from powder and every single product served for breakfast is the cheapest available substitute of the real thing. I paid 50 pounds for the room on a Saturday. I would be happy to pay 60 and have a proper breakfast. Please, do something about it, Hampton by Hilton!

The very warm welcome from the Staff set the tone for our comfortable one night stay. Very convenient location and comfortable overall. Need to ensure an early or late breakfast to avoid congestion! Will stay again

Stayed for 1 night - paid £59 including breakfast and couldn't fault the hotel. Modern, clean and quiet. Best value I've had for a long time. Excellent cooked buffet breakfast. I had no problem parking but spaces might be limited if full.

I booked this hotel for my partner and I and I would definitely recommend it! The room was a little small but it was very cosy and comfortable. I asked for a room on floor nine so we could see the view which looked wonderful at night. The higher, the better !!

Second stay. New entrance to East Croydon station is almost opposite hotel. Using OYSTER card making accessing London easy. London Bridge, Victoria and Clapham Junction. Good value clean hotel with complementary breakfast.

A bit like Alan Partridge I spent two weeks at this hotel on transferring to Croydon with my job. Unlike Alan Partridge I didn't dismantle the Corby trouser press or try to angle the mirror so I could see the television from the bathroom. Primarily because my wife was with me.

Anyway this hotel is relatively new and the small, well designed rooms are comfy, well equipped and very clean. The service too is a cut above. The general manager went out of his way to sort an issue with my loyalty points. Although Croydon is a business centre and has little to recommend it to tourists I would definitely agree with other reviewers who suggest this as a viable alternative to Central London. There is a new walkway from East Croydon station that puts this hotel 5 minutes from the platform. From there it is 15-20 minutes to either Victoria or London Bridge with regular trains. It's also close to Gatwick. NCP opposite for your car as well.

Yes, I know it's in Croydon. Most Londoners regard that as being somewhere between Timbuktu and Mars. However, Croydon happens to have a really good train service into central London (takes about 15 minutes to Victoria or London Bridge, and trains seem to go about every 10 minutes or so) and this hotel is about 2 minutes walk from the station (don't go out the main entrance - go out the exit at the other end of the platforms). So, practically, it's a real alternative to central London hotels.

It's very clean, nicely designed and feels up to date (is this really owned by Hilton?) Desk staff are friendly and welcoming. There's a small bar (which is open late) and dining area (OK, but a limited selection of food. Venture out into Croydon if you want anything more interesting). Rooms are spotless, comfortable and everything, in my experience, actually works.

The breakfast buffet (which is included in the price) is fine for what it is - coffee and croissants rather than the full breakfast.

Compared to what you'd get for the same money 15 minutes away, it's excellent. Recommended.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter as usual. Low numbered rooms on each floor (x01,x02 up to about x05) are c...
