Huge and very beautiful complex set amidst stunning grounds and ornate gardens. Was interesting to see how surprisingly civilised life seemed. Some very modern facilities even. We wandered around many rooms and buildings. Displays and reproductions as well as some genuinely old artefacts on show in the kitchens, storage rooms and eating halls were excellent. The Chapel was beautiful and tranquil if not also pause for thought considering Henry VIII's debauched behaviour and cruelty. Staff and guides were very helpful and friendly.
The gift shop was very good.
We travelled from London by train and bus and returned in the afternoon by Thames cruiser to Kingston. A fabulous experience and we went through a lock which was interesting as was the opportunity to see beautiful properties along the Thames. Richmond was very pretty and we had an enjoyable lunch at a Pub across the road from Hampton Court, The White Swan.
