We always used to go to the Darjeeling in Farnham as it was always the best curry house in town. Once the Mahaan opened we favoured this as it was a little more contemporary.
Having given the 'darj' another go this weekend I can only say never again..
It was 9 on a sunday evening but figuring they would not be shutting til half ten we thought we had plenty of time.
The waiter had shown us to a table and barely had we time to sit down that he asked us our drink order. Once he had hovered for a time and we ordered wine, as he left barking popadums? We perused the menu.
Within 3 minutes he wanted our food order but we managed to squeeze a couple of minutes.
After ordering the food turned up quickly which was nice (but we were the only customers in the building)
Whilst awaiting the food there was a waiter in the background constantly trying to loosen something in his throat, which was off putting at best!!
Having barely finished our food the hacking waiter was constantly hovering waiting to take the plates......... Which made me all the slower!
I was seriously considering having a dessert just to keep the staff onsite for a while!
Safe to say that my wife and I will not be returning to the Darjeeling.
