“Perfect hotel for our wedding reception”
Reviewed 9 January 2011

Myself and my husband held our wedding reception here in August 2010. Where can I start?! The service at the Ramada was brilliant with Beth the wedding co-ordinator being consistently helpful and always patient with my endless emails!
We fell in love with the Ramada as soon as we saw it. A lot of planning went into the day but the hotel were happy to cater to our every need. We arrived to a red carpet welcome, to be greeted by Bruno and given a glass of champagne. Every single detail of what we had planned was perfect. We had our drinks reception in the Club Bar and the meal in Thatcher's restaurant. The food was gorgeous! Although I didn't feel like eating much!
We then had our evening reception in Central Park so having the fresh rooms to move to was really good. The grounds are lovely and despite the weather, we were able to get some gorgeous photos out there.
Every single detail was taken care of. I didn't worry at all. All of our belongings were transferred to a conference room, our luggage was taken up to the bridal suite for us and we didn't have to worry about a single thing.
We loved the building - particularly Thatcher's restaurant with its wooden beams and fireplace. The bridal suite was lovely. It's just a shame we entered the room at 11:30 on the wedding night and left at 5 for our honeymoon!
All of our guests enjoyed their stay too. It was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding reception.

We actually got married at the Ramada, Guildford/Leatherhead. The hotel staff are friendly and the bar staff are great. The atmosphere is relaxed, which is what a stressed Bride and Groom need!
Gorgeous food, beautifully presented. Enjoyed sitting in the tudor-style dining room. We picked this hotel because of the tudor-style which it has been built around.

Room was very spacious and comfortable, only stayed the one night but we would happily go there again. Didn't have breakfast but did order room service the night before (at some unearthly hour!!) and we were very pleased with the service.

The most expensive round of drinks I have bought for a very long time, then unquestionably the worst piece of roast beef I have ever tried to eat - and I gave up eventually!
The waiter offered me another piece, but based on my carving efforts - there was no chainsaw available in the place to help!

Good welcome at reception, secure parking and clean but a slightly tired room – just needs a paint touch up rather than a full redec. Only gripe was slowness in restaurant (which wasn’t busy) and inability of a waitress to carry out an order for a drink. Would stay here again but if did so and a tip to other business travellers, is not to go with the inclusive dinner deal which whilst good value only offers a limited menu, but instead to get a bar meal.

Note WiFi is only free in the bar area.

I stayed here as a solo traveller but as part of a large contingent of like minded people who were organising, participating and helping at a hotel based event.

Although I booked an executive double room, the walk in shower advertised on the site as being a feature was conspicuous by its absence. The room was large, the bed comfortable and both room and bathroom were clean, although the ceiling in the bathroom was suffering from either mould or water stains and the curtain was a little tired.

The TV was flat screen but had only a few more channels than terrestial TV. The biscuits were not replenished on a daily basis. As a frequent business traveller I found the cost of the room (at the rate we obtained it) reasonable for the quality offered.

I found bar, housekeeping and reception staff efficient and friendly, the same could not be said across the board in the dining area, particularly at breakfast. The hot buffet breakfast was good, although toast when it came was either cold or just not toasted at all.

Lunchtime sandwiches in the bar were delicious and good value for money.

Dinner on Thursday evening was a set menu and reasonable.

The hot buffet meal on Friday evening was not a succes fou, with the spinach/cheese pancakes a particular failure tasting of raw flour. The salad vegetables looked as though they had been cut up by children and no dressings were available.

The presentation dinner on the Saturday evening was excellent and in fact I wondered if the chef was one that was absent on Friday!

The hotel is really built for business travellers, not an environment in which you would choose to vacation.

Group Organisers Beware

Our christmas function was booked at this venue with a concession price of £49. When people started to book we were told it was £69. Make sure you get the room consession price in writing before you confirm your function.
