We've just stayed here for a night as we were attending a wedding nearby. We can't fault our room to be honest. Lovely big bedroom and bathroom, contemporary fittings. Nice clean grouting in bathroom (sorry this may sound odd but dirty mouldy grouting is a pet hate of mine!). Proper cooked breakfast served to you rather than buffet by friendly cheerful staff (makes a change) in fact all the staff were friendly and the housekeeping staff do an excellent job with room servicing it was spotless. Yes that ceiling needs repairing badly as I think it's what's causing the slight fusty smell in the walkway but I'm sure the manager has it in hand. Weve stayed in many four star hotels not up to the same standard maybe we struck lucky with our room? I don't know, but all the other members of our party had no complaints either so doubt it. A nice little hotel, well run with just a couple of public areas needing a touch up.

Receptionists Magda and Katrina checked me in to my really nice and spacious room 17 on 26 May. They were very helpful and welcoming. Lovely room and bathroom. It was a sunny day so I decided to relax on my balcony, and then walk to Gatton Park from across the road. A really good full English breakfast the following morning was served by a cheerful and humorous Moncho. The views are spectacular. I then walked the North Downs way from across the road to Caterham. The hotel is really well placed for walkers, and of course for those with more leisurely pursuits. The surrounding countryside is very scenic.

Room Tip: Higher the better because of the views.

Stayed here for family birthday party... staff were very helpful and friendly the waiter did provide some entertainment by doing magic tricks which did provide some entertainment even though it was slightly random! The saturday night here appeared to be an pensioners dinner and dance the average age of the customer was about 80 and the band which were average catered for their needs by singing songs from the 70s and 80s . Definately avoid saturday nights if you want a lively young and vibrant crowd!

Room was ok air con and a balcony and a comfortable good sized bed. The hotel lacked a decent bar area which was a bar come reception and the building is in urgent need of modernisation cold corridors ceilings that were collapsing with leak damage. The food was very good in the dining room again which was very old fashioned.

Overall an average hotel but based on the price I would expect to pay about £30/£40 not the price of £85.... travelodge standards at its best.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony!

The Hotel is a bit out of the way from Reigate township, so you need a vehicle or taxi to get around. We were in room 16 and the water pressure and hot water was poor, it seemed to fluctuated as you showered. Other than that the hotel is fine.

I stopped there with work....and unsuprisngly breakfast hadn't been booked by work.

I enquired how much it would be the £9.95!.....so Macdonalds it was.

The room provided was a good size and warm. I dined in the restaurant and on the whole it was okay.

What let the whole experience down was there was zero hot water in the morning....

Fix that and make brekkie more reasonable....and it'll be fine.

Sorry about the hotel water and we have had the boilers checked.....apologies. Not sure about your comments regarding breakfast . £9.95 in this day and age is well at the bottom end of hotel breakfast pricing with a massively wider range and bigger breakfast than MacDonalds.

But we would never deny you the right to be able to choose that which you prefer and I hope you enjoyed it.

Sorry about the water.

Kindest regards

David

We booked this hotel after travelling home from Fuerteventura and wanting a little luxury before our onward journey. What a disappointment! Although it was mentioned on various websites that the hotel had been recently refurbished there was no evidence of it. Chipped paintwork, tired carpets (and in our bedroom stained carpets). On the long walk from the reception there was a musty and damp smell in the passageways This hotel is in serious need of a major facelift. £85 just for the room was too much.

Thank you for your review and so sorry you were disappointed with your stay. The hotel was refurbished a few years ago, the first time for decades, but it has never been described as being a luxury hotel but rather a value for money 3 star hotel, and I am sorry if you felt this was not the case.

Apologies

David
