I have stayed at this hotel on and off for the last 6 months and now wouldnt stay any where else in the North East. The Premier Inn brand ensures great rooms at affordable prices but what sets this hotel apart are the amazing team. Nothing has ever been too much trouble for them, you are always greeted with a smile.

Last time I stayed here, about a year ago, it was called the Prestige Hotel with your usual modern pub sat next door and it was all distinctly average but good standard. PremierInn seem to have since taken over and rebranded it and its much the same perhaps a bit better now and what you come to expect from the brand.

The rooms have been updated and my double room was a very good size, clean and comfy as you expect from the brand. Nice size LCD TV with freeview channels, wifi available but at extortionate cost through spectrum and no roaming partners i could see which did dissapoint for me. The pub next door has also changed hands and is now a Taybarn, Ive never heard of the chain but it is basically an all you can eat buffet restaurant for £7.95 and cheaper if you get in before 6ish. Quite a lot to choose from soup, salad, carvery, chinese, pizza, pasta, burgers, sweets, etc etc all quite passable fayre some of it was a bit dried out from sitting on the hotplates but freshly made on the main and no complaints for the price. Monday night was quiet but the place was pretty packed with locals tuesday night so i decided to hit the toon which isnt a long trip on the metro from the local station which is simonside or tyne dock for £2.20 or its about £15 in a taxi.
For me its handy for where I was working and a solid safe bet for a decent nights sleep. The buffet pub next doors not really my cup of tea but its handy and some of the fayre was very tasty and a must visit for those with bottomless stomachs and empty pockets!

Only a one night business stay and I didn't have huge expectations, but I was impressed.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was excellent - both on reception and in the attached restaurant. The room was basic, but relatively large, up-to-date and clean. The beds themeselves are often a weakness in these type of hotels, but this was particularly comfortable.

If I'm in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to book again.
