My husband ans I booked a a nice table for 2 (6x) in the restaurant and had a drink in the bar waiting for the table to be vacated. The head waiter (Chris) who was a little over friendly gave us the a la carte menu which was not that interesting but that is what was on offer. We were taken to our table and we ordered. We had to ask for the bread basket which arrived after our starter with the wine.We then had the pricey main course and have to say all of the food served was very average. We sat waiting for the dessert menu and again had to ask for it and one of the young waitresses brought this. This included a table d'hote menu which we had not seen and on telling the waitress her reaction was that she had not served us so in effect not her fault. I spoke with the Head Waiter who basically said thats unlucky as all of the menu should have been available and he would speak with the manager but alas that did not happen. In effect the secondary menu looked good with a whole lot more choices at much more reasonable prices. I think my husband and I would have been okay if the food quality from the a la carte menu was good but as I said very average. The result was we paid a lot more for the meal than we would have if we had the opportunity of seeing all that was available plus the have to say the waiting staff need to be a lot more attentive and professional than was demonstrated on that evening.

We travelled to Beamish Museum and decided to stay in a reasonably nearby hotel and visit Newcastle the following day.
The hotel was between a park and an amusement park. our fears of loud music late into the night from the amusement park proved to be unfounded. the hotel staff were very helpful and the hotel itself was clean and had more than enough car parking. the hotel was also a short walk from numerous Indian restaurants and the city centre.
Prices in the bar were reasonable and breakfast was good. the only downside to our stay was that the weather was very hot and the room had no air conditioning or a fan to circulate the air. however, this was a relatively small complaint and our friends did in fact have a fan to help make the stay a littl more pleasant.
I would have no problem staying at this hotel if I was in the area again.

A photo booth was was available for everyone who wanted to dress up to have photographs taken and a fantastic disco to finish the night off.

Just returned home from a stay at the Sea Hotel with friends. From the minute we checked in the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a family room in the annex, very clean comfortable room and easy access to the car park. It was very warm in the room so the 2 electric fans were used and through the night.
We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant great selection on the menu, food was excellent and good sized portions. Breakfast was very good fresh cooked full English and hot even though it was very busy. Chris from the restaurant who served us dinner and breakfast was very helpful and friendly, and made sure we were looked after.
If visiting South Shields you have to stay at the Sea Hotel. Great Location too.
Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the annex, quieter and easy access to car park, although there is no view.

On arrival, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Room is very comfortable, I needed nothing extra. Breakfast was second to none with a wonderful assortment of cereal and dried fruits, and the full English was spot on. Again, breakfast staff were warm and friendly. Overall a very welcome stay.
