Rude management, cheap, badly cooked food, dirty glasses....go to one of the other pubs on the sea front.

I used to visit here regularly but won't be rushing back after my latest visit. The girls behind the bar were too busy chatting to take my order so. I had to wait until they realised I was standing there. Everything was delayed and our starters were rushed as they asked if we were ready for our mains but then we waited 15 minutes. When my fish and chips arrived the mushy peas were crusty as though they had been sitting on the side in the kitchen while the other meals were cooked. The toilets were disgusting too! Avoid at all costs - it puts other hungry horses to shame

Where do we start ?? At the beginning I suppose. We went on Saturday lunchtime,9th August 2014,but well before any rush....We decided quickly what to have...Went to the bar to order...the first two items they had none of...The third choice they had to check if they had any of !! So,anyway, third and fourth choice down the line we finally ordered...In the middle of this the barman placed a '30 minute wait' board for food on the bar....I quickly checked and got the thumbs up off my dining guest......Within FIVE MINUTES our order was on the table ! How does that work ????...The order was Nachos WITH chilli beef....There was NO chilli beef on,and there was NO sour cream on which was clearly stated on the menu...It was happily taken away by the staff and rectified, but what came back can only be described as one of the worst presented plates of food I have ever seen in my life....Checkout my photos to see if you agree....It looked as if it had literally been hoyyed onto the plate by an 8 year old....My Burrito was huge and to be fair didn't taste that bad...once I had extracted the load of Jalapeno peppers out which were so overpowering it was unbelievable..We DID NOT venture on to dessert as the main was more than enough to digest....Previous to the food arriving, the sauces had come in a scruffy rusty metal bucket which was dirty and greasy on the bottom inside, and the sauces had again been slung into it,covered in stickiness and muck off other sachets....Not a great start..The state of the gents AND ladies toilets were clear for all who ventured in there...A massive makeover and update is required in there...From dirty black grouting around the sinks,to cracked tiles,to a bin with no lid on,to a dirty hand dryer...All very unpleasant....I cannot fault the staff...They were pleasant and helpful....but unless this pub gets a very urgent makeover,it is sadly going down the pan..We have been to other 'Hungry Horses' in The Shire Farm at Killingworth, and The Newton Park at High Heaton, and I'm sorry to say this is the worst by far...Please take notice and buck your ideas up....Staff 4 ****,Food NO stars,Cleanliness NO stars...

The sundial serves very bland food.
We had a long wait in a seemingly empty pub.
Staff not particularly friendly, the only thing I would recommend is the setting and then I would buy some fish and chips and enjoy the views from a bench.
