“Comfortable, good location, good price!”
Reviewed 16 June 2011

I stayed here for 2 nights, 29-31 May 2011, in a single room. Upon arrival, my friend and I were checked in by Linda who was very informative about local transport, as my friend and I were in the area to attend a concert in Sunderland.
My single room was very comfy...a nice comfy bed (memory foam mattress), with heating, a flatscreen tv with plenty of channels, own kettle and hairdryer, black out blind at the window, tea and coffee supplies (even thougn I don't drink tea and coffee) and a basin. There is a shared bathroom which conists of a bath and separate shower in the same room and then two separate toilets. Along with your own room key, you are given a key to the bathroom so that you can lock the door for privacy. The bathroom/toilet areas were always very clean and well presented.
Breakfast is included in the price (I paid £25 per night and thought this was a very good price)..there is a choice of many cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee, as well as a cooked English breakfast. There is also a small fridge and microwave for guests to use, as you are allowed to bring your own food into the guest house.
The location is good. About 10 minutes' walk to the 'front' where there is a beachy area and it is also about 10 minutes from the town of South Shields itself, where one street in particular is full of Indian restaurants...we were spoilt for choice! There is local transport and we were advised by Linda to use the bus (number 35) to get to the Stadium of Light for the concert, instead of the metro.
There is no curfew so you are free to come and go as you please, which was useful, as we didn't return until around 1am after the concert.
There is also free WiFi access, and you are given a password upon check-in.
A big thank you to Linda for all of her help and information!
If I was to be in the area again, then I would return to Annie's Guest House (subject to availability).

We was made very welcome on arrival. Linda showed us to our room, and gave us a map of the town; detailing the shops, eateries and directions very clearly.
The room was very clean and the food was excellent..
we will definately be returning.

We stopped at Annies for a long week-end recently and were very impressed.

It was very easy to find, and parking was always available directly outside. Nicely situated for the local amenities, and perfect as a base for sight seeing in the north east.

The welcome was very friendly and helpful, accommadation was lovely and clean, and very well kept. Breakfast was spot on. Excellent value for money

Hi. My good impression of this guest-house started when we met the young and lovely lady landlord. So chatty and friendly, I already realized I made the right choice of the accommodation. I was nicely surprised to find out there was a free wifi internet in the house, the food very tasty and the landlords absolutely helpful, making the stay awesome.
Actually I chose this place as a close and quite destination to visit Newcastle. It takesonly 15 minutes by the subway to get to the centre of Newcastle. Make sure to take coins with you when planning on buying a subway ticket as you are going to buy from the machine that accepts only coins.I would totally recommend this place.

Excellent value little place handy for the beach, town and Metro. Very friendly, excellent local knowledge. Rooms aren't huge, but it's very clean, comfortable and cosy. A real antidote to slummy B&Bs or bland hotel chains.

A very good standard accommodation in a quiet location for low price. My room was cleaned everyday during my eight night visit to north eastern England. Tea/coffee restocked daily. Breakfasts were superb. Internet (wireless) and parking were both free. Has satellite television channels also. Train station around 5 minutes walk to the west for reaching Newcastle central. Definitely one to come back to and I would recommend to others also.
