Stayed there overnight in the single room which was tiny also need something other than a pull down blind at the window, after all who wants to sit in a dark room during daylight hours which is what you have to do as room is overlooked by a window from next door. Was ok for an overnight stay but seemed to be run more like a B&B than hotel but charging hotel prices.

Room Tip: Don't book the single one.

Stayed for 6 nights in February, but have to say disappointed. The web site leads one to think that there is 'hotel' amenities, but no lounge and minute dining/breakfast room. This really is a guest house, but hotel prices!! There were quite a few things that were not up to scratch, but in fairness the manager has responded to me on these, and I appreciate some are out of his hands. Had a return booking for April, but decided to cancel and try another larger hotel, which incidentally is a lower price than The Sir William Fox, even on the Easter weekend.

Arrived later into the day at about 7pm and booked a twin room for me and my brother to stay on for the night whilst visiting family. We were put in a room at the end of a corridor that had an old piano outside blocking fire exit. Breakfast poor too!

Great place for a stay. Small restaurant with good food. Friendly staff. Business clients during the week. The rooms that we had had all been redecorated. The inclusive breakfast was very good; full cooked English. We were on a business trip for which this was absolutely brilliant.

Room Tip: We had one single room which was small, and one double (21) which was large, with a HUGE bed.

Stayed for a couple of nights in December 2013. The room and bathroom were both clean and comfortable as well as both being a decent size, verging on spacious. Breakfast cooked to order was nice, traditional fry up, but with no real alternatives, other than cold buffet of cereal and bread products. Size of breakfast area and the number of people in it made it feel more like a B&B than a hotel. The layout of the hotel also makes it tend to feel like one; it is an old 19th century house having been converted. Historically it is worth a stay. The dark narrow corridor to our room had movement sensors to switch the lights on but they didn't appear to be well positioned as we seem to walk along the corridors for a while before the lights came on. Be warned if busy parking could be an issue. Only residents parking at the front in Westoe Village, visitors parking limited to 2 hours, at all times. Hotel car park at rear isn't that easy to find and with only spaces for around 8-10 cars could easily be full. Some of the décor overall could do with some TLC, but that seems to be case for all hotels these days!

I agree with previous reviewers that this place could be so much better with just a few little thing doing to it. I lick of paint and a bit of modernising would be a good start but that said the hotel is clean and the staff are great. Thje braekfast was very good and the welcome was really friendly and genuine. The people who work here are excellent and some posher places could learn a thing or two about how to treat guests from The Sir William Fox!

Great value for money and I would certainly stay again as the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable which are the most important things I was looking for.

The positives here far outwayed the few negatives.

Had a really good stay there last night. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly, spacious rooms and great bath! Can't go wrong for forty quid a night. Don't be expecting huge amounts of luxury but the hotel represents very good value and it made for a pleasant stay
