Set in a quiet residential area of Shiney Row village, this house is well placed for visiting the North-East, with easy access to Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Durham. It is extremely comfortable with a fabulous and well equipped kitchen. The house was spotless and well kept, and we were delighted to find basics in the kitchen for our arrival (selection of hot drinks, bread, butter, milk, etc).
Good location, nice home furniture is dated however in good condition. Still waiting for our deposit return with no contact from the owner. As yet unsure if we'd book again.
Lovely comfortable home with everything you need. Special thanks for the welcome pack and little extras like tea and coffee. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again.
Have just returned from Briar Rose after a very pleasant stay. The bungalow is very clean and comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. A real home from home. It is also situated in a very good location perfect for all areas in Tyneside and Teeside. The beaches north of Sunderland we particularly liked. So you have the sea and beautiful unspoilt beaches, the wonderful heritage and also lovely countryside. The owner, Ray, had left a very thorough information pack. We had a great time and could have done with longer.
Excellent base for exploring the region with Great transport links close by.
Spacious, clean, well equipped, comfortable bungalow in a quiet residential area with good amenities close by.
Location is great for Metro Centre, Newcastle, Durham, very central for all amenities, very quite area, very well equipped with everything you need, comfortable beds, lovely private suntrap in the back garden.
We stay in 2 - 3 properties per year, in conjunction with the cottages.com website - and this has to be among the very best!
Right from the moment that we booked, the owner (Ray) was in contact with us. First of all he included important information about the property, and followed up shortly after, with information on the local area. This really helped us plan our activities in advance, and was a nice touch.
Right from the minute that we drew up in the off-road parking area, the overall high standard of cleanliness became apparent.
Once inside, we found all the amenities that we needed for our stay - washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher etc in the huge kitchen, and unpacked our kit in the plentiful storage areas.
Another nice touch, was having bread, milk, cookies and laundry powder (Fairy Non Bio - ideal for Eczema sufferers like myself) left out for our arrival.
The beds were extremely comfortable (although it's worth mentioning that the master bed is a 4'6" double), and the fact that you could hear a pin drop overnight, ensured that we had a decent sleep every night (I'm a very light sleeper).
That said, the quiet and peaceful location, power shower, and extremely comfortable lounge area were 'just the ticket' after a busy day of sightseeing.
We've already booked to go back in June, and would urge any returning renters to contact the owner directly, as he offers a discount of between 10 - 20% off his (already competitive) prices.
