Me and my partner stayed here because it was cheap and close to where we were visiting. The staff were fine, not the happiest bunch of people I have met. The room was really basic, it had a funny smell, like someone had been smoking. The decor was out of date, miserable and generally quite depressing. The room was clean and tidy and everything worked perfectly. The shower was great, the room did fill with steam really quick and didn't leave quick at all. The bed was comfy. The TV was good. The whole place needs a revamp though. The breakfast is good, I had both the continental and the cooked breakfast. The cooked was ok, nothing flash. Lots of choice on the continental however. The price was good and I think this place is good if your trying to save money or if your in a big group of lads or something. I prefer a nicer room to be honest.

The best way to describe this hotel is a small step up from a travel lodge. This was the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in for years. I had a bad back for days. Room very average. Not oneI will return to.

We've stayed at this hotel a few times now, it's just about equidistant between our home on the South Coast of England and our holiday home of preference in the far north of Scotland,

Pretty standard fare in the comfortable rooms, a good restaurant with a proper chef on duty, pet friendly (they charge £5 per night for the dog, as opposed to Travelodge who charge £20 per night) and a convenient location literally just a stone's throw off the A1(M).

Nothing to get excited about, just good service from friendly staff in a clean and welcoming hotel. The ONLY downside is a smallish car park that does get very full.

We stayed at this hotel for one night while attending a family gathering. The room was VERY basic and outdated. The cost was very pricey which I assume was because it was the weekend of the Great North Race......but that's no excuse to charge 120 pounds for such a room. The walls had holes in them, we had to ask for a hair dryer at reception (were told guests take them, that's why we had to ask), and a mediocre breakfast cost an additional 6 pounds each. I would probably not stay here again.

recently had a two night stay at this campanile and was not impressed at all, starting with the male receptionist who had the knack of wrapping sarcasm in a cheesy smile, the ground floor room was large and clean but very tired ,the bed was two singles joined together with an uncomfortable join, you had to hunt the spare plug socket, the lighting was very low, fire alarm went off at 5.45 but when we tried to find a member of staff to tell us what was going on there was none to be found at the assembly point and the reception was locked,at breakfast when we enquired we were told it was people not reading signs and not shutting the bathroom door when using the shower, breakfast was ok,didnt fancy eating there at night, the menu is very limited,if your looking for a cheapish overnight use this place however we will definitely be paying a little more and going somewhere else.

Room Tip: if you have trouble climbing stairs then ask for a ground floor room as there is no lift.

first impressions omg its not a hotel its a Motel, rooms are not connected to the restaurant/lounge/bar/reception. To access rooms you have to have a door code, rooms are only accessible by stairs so be aware u have to carry your luggage. Rooms are small but clean décor is really not that bad ive seen worse. Staff are polite but not very forthcoming about what to do in the area, so thought info in rooms would be good eh no opened up info folder to find 2 sheets of blank paper. Went to restaurant on first night ordered steak pie asked what it came with was told "chips" I then asked about veg and was told "no veg" hence we ate at the toby carvery 5mins down road. internet is readily available in all the room and we had a problem connecting but staff sorted that issue right away. Overall I would stay there again but only if I was passing through, but to be honest we booked through "laterooms" and for £39 a night it was good value beds are comfy and clean, I got a goods night sleep.
