“Beautiful Hotel shame about the service”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

We went to this hotel as a party of 12 for my mother in law's 80th bday, the hotel is stunning but the service was shocking!!
We sat down to dinner in a separate dining room and ordered out meal, the starters took 2 hours to arrive!!, we like eating at our own pace but this was not acceptable. The food once it arrived was very good and the rest of the courses arrived in good time.
Breakfast the following morning was well an experience not worth waiting an hour for, we all arrived in the dining room over a period of half hour (so not all together), and proceeded to wait for an hour before any of us were served, I actually popped my head in the kitchen and asked if there was any chance we could get our food, we were by then well past the checking out time. Many of the staff seemed untrained and the lady who appeared to be in charge just kept telling us that the food was freshly prepared, well that's as may be but they knew how many they had for breakfast and even freshly cooked it does not take an hour to cook breakfast for 4 people!!, I did make a complaint at reception and the lunch we had booked we then cancelled. Well we had a lovely evening all together but sadly unless the service improved dramatically we wont be going back, which is a shame as the scenery and our room was so lovely.

I had a lovely welcome, the receptionist was really helpful. Had forgotten my phone and needed access to my email to get the details of a conference I was attending, the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful. A very good start. The room was lovely and comfortable, the toiletries were very pleasant. The service in the restaurant was exceptional. The meal was absolutely lovely. The Steak Diane was simply to die for. Breakfast was also very pleasant.
Would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: try to ask for one away from the spa. as when the jacuzzi is used, the noise from the motor can be...

We stayed here for one night only and was disappointed when we had to check out. Storms all around the UK and we didn't hear any of it...lovely staff, friendly, helpful and professional. Would definitely like to visit again and will recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: the swimming pool and sauna are great and the rooms are lovely. Room 15 is next to the outdoor marq...

A review in 3 parts:
Venue/Location - 9/10 - Pleasant surroundings whether you play golf or not. The building is historic and full of character and the grounds are great. Our visit was for a celebration lunch but the venue looks good for weddings and other special occasions.
Staff - 10/10 - To be honest, the staff are the most polite and helpful I have seen in the UK for a long time. The event was hosted by Carol who, with her team, are a credit to Nailcote. Well done.
Food Quality - 9/10 - We attended a 3 course lunch with 60 guests of all ages, appetites and tastes. Staff had accommodated all requests and the way it was organised was impressive.
All in all, I would recommend Nailcote as an excellent venue, nice grounds, good staff and very good food.

Get the negative out of the way first. We had room No6 if you wanted a quite night this is not the room for you as the central heating boiler needs a service. It will keep you awake till at least 11.30 and get you up at 6.30 if this does not bother you fine.

As for the rest of the trip it was faultless, The spa was great, the Golf course was brilliant for a par three, breakfast was very enjoyable and the staff were fantastic. The whole place was very homely with that touch of class. I became firm friends with Tiggie the hotel cat and we had many a happy hour snoozing on the couch together. David in the spar was very helpful as was our waitress at breakfast. All in All we would certainly stay her in the future. Oh and by the way we had a groupon voucher so it was excellent value.

Well done to all the staff for making our break a brilliant one. We shall be back in future.

Room Tip: Do not have room 6 or one near this.

Dear Sue.
Absolutely Fabulous, it really was a memorable occasion, which was very much down to the efficiency and professionalism of your staff. With a special THANK YOU to Miles who shadowed us brilliantly, especially when our friend collapsed, he was right behid me and helped brake his fall. The receptionist was also right there to help get the Ambulance .The Guest knew nothing about it until later,as the staff took it in their stride un-fazedand managed to get all the guests seated without any disruption .All our guests said both in the visitors book and in subsequent emails and thank you letters, how smart the staff were, helful together with complimants about the superb venue and the fantastic food. The news paper reports and pictures have made the whole occasion very special and for this we are very much indeebted to you and all your staff for all your help,The cartoonist went down very well and the photogrpher did a slended job. Once again thank you for all your help and that of your staff.

This hotel was booked for our Daughter's wedding venue and put simply the weekend was excellent. The hotel is in a lovely location and the place itself was very clean, the staff were very helpful and cortices and nothing was too much trouble. The food was five star and the facilities were of very high standard. A special note for the hotel organiser Carol and her team who ensured the day was perfect.
We would highly recommend that if you are looking for a wedding venue this is a perfect one. The day went off without a hitch and the staff were excellent in organising and arranging everything which took all the worry from the family prior to and on the day.
