The Cinnamon Lounge has the distinction of being the second Indian restaurant in Dunchurch. Its rival, Omars, is just across the way, and while it is surprising that two such restaurants can thrive in such a small place, so far it seems that both are doing well.
Omars, the larger of the two, has been in its present location for many years, while the Cinnamon Lounge was a new addition in 2011. Hopefully the rivalry will spur both on to great achievements as both are good restaurants deserving success.
The Cinnamon Lounge is at first difficult to spot, occupying the upper floor of Dunchurch Working Men's club. Once inside though it's clean, modern, well fitted out and a nice enough place to be. It still has a feeling of 'newness' to it, and its staff are always friendly and polite.
The food is excellent - we've been several times and always been pleased. Jalfrezi dishes are superb as are the biryanis. Karahi chicken is another speciality here, although we've never had anything bad. During my most recent visit, there was a large party booked in who had insisted on loud, booming music to accompany. This was pretty painful, and while not exactly the restaurant's fault, it would be nice to think that they don't plan to do this very often.
Bear in mind the Cinnamon Lounge is quite small, so it's a good idea to book if you are planning to bring a large party. At the time of writing, the restaurant offers two-for-one on main courses on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, and therefore represents very good value for money.
