Stayed here for 1 night on business recently and thought it looked great when I booked it, classic country house. Also fantastic when you arrive through the impressive gateway. However, while the original property is lovely, the hotel has styled itself as a conference venue and the main property seems to have been turned into large conference rooms with no accommodation in the main building. All the rooms are in horrible modern brick built blocks a short distance away and are totally out of keeping with the lovely original buildings.

Checking in was fine and my room was actually fairly good although smallish but they are obviously designed for people just staying on site for conferences. Used towels from previous occupant had been left on the floor however as the cleaners had forgotten to take them away.

Dinner in the restaurant was ok although no atmosphere due to the conference vibe. breakfast next morning was also taken in a huge hall with large round tables, again a conference venue with no atmosphere. Fine when your on business but not good for a nice weekend. Food was ok and buffet style. Overall very good value for a midweek stay on business but would not be my choice for a weekend.

Room Tip: All are away from the main hotel so ask for the closes block.

When you drive through the magnificent gardens you really think your somewhere special but the rooms are very average. Wifi worked ok. Tv tiny and although wasn't dirty ive stayed in cleaner places for much less. Van got broke into on car park and although not hotels fault I got little sympathy.

Very poor communication from staff in terms of no confirmation of booking different prices charged on arrival. Totally outdated rooms with poor showers and uncomfortable beds. Main bar did open until 5pm so we had to go into the village for drinks. Main toilets for gents in the hotel are located in the basement Which are a joke.the general cleanliness of hotel very poor.

Tiny double bed and the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, it felt like to many rooms had been crammed in so it had a dorm feel to it. The grounds are lovely and the bar is fresh, but everywhere else is screaming for a refurb. There was no wardrobe and no where to hang my clothes apart from a few hangers above the kettle, so if I wanted a drink I ran the risk of ruining my dress which was far to long for the small hanging space they gave me. There was a tiny Tv and a small desk with a very old chair under it. The room just felt dirty, I wouldn't stay there again.
