A beautiful place full of attention to detail and friendly care. It is unusual to find both a warm and inviting place with lovely hosts. Each room is individually decorated to a high standard.
Food is excellent and all local produce.

Room Tip: We haven't stayed yet in the study, but it's beautiful. Have already booked to go back in Au...

went here for Saturday lunch. I had enquired as to times so we were able to book a lete table
the bar area is wonderful combining all the qualities of a good bar area, with an eaterie. so ,mant places are laid out for eating to the detriment of those who just want a drink - this is a country pub after all.
we were greeted by a very friendly lady, who showed us to our table and sent a waitress to get out order. the drinks came promptly... a good range of bitters, and the Old Hookie was superb.
there was a lot of seafood on the menu, but we had the pigeon faggots - unusual, quite gamey, and delicious, and I had crab and advocado salad - which was very disappointing. I wasn't expecting the huge dollop of rose marie sauce - which spoilt it, with the glutunous texture, and over powering flavour - just serve the crab, and avocado, with the salad leaves and dressing.
for mains we had the stuffed lamb breast - very tender, rich and tasty without being fatty, and stuffed with a lovely apricot stuffing.
we had one dessert - a very rich chocolate tart, again, delish
so it was a very good meal. we finished at about 4pm, and were the only ones left, so it was lacking a little in ambience but we had asked for a late table, so......
the formal dining area looked very comfortable too.
a very good meal, but the portions weren't huge - which is fine with me, but it seemed a bit expensive at the end of the day. if I lived nearer I would return.

Booked to stay one night to celebrate a birthday. The room we had was called the old beams - very nice bed, room decent size as was bathroom. Only slight negative I would say about the particular accommodation we stayed in was that the bathroom was a little tired and would be better tiled as walls were water stained. Also the communal stairs area to the room was a little tatty and could easily be improved with a small amount of repair and paint.

We booked to eat in the restaurant and it was first-class in every way. Attentive friendly staff and service. Food was delicious and would certainly recommend. Breakfast the following morning was superb - great choices and lovely local produce.

All in all we had a lovely time and would definitely return

Great food and pub with rooms, very high standard - but you pay for this, its your choice and watch out for a 10% gratuity on the room bill as well as food and drink - most strange!

Nice atmosphere and a very relaxing place to stay.

Walks from the door too!

Room Tip: We had a look in each others rooms - all very high standard - photos on web site would help you choo...

We stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate my birthday and so we could visit Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Stratford. The Howard Arms is situated in a picturesque village and we had a lovely stay. The room was big yet quaint (antique furniture and a half tester bed), the food excellent (esp. the breakfasts which were the best we'd ever been offered) and all the staff helpful and friendly. The bar area had a log fire, the restaurant area was cosy and there was a lovely garden. It was close enough for us to visit all the places I've mentioned (Oxford was 1 hour away) but we could come back to an idyllic rural retreat at the end of the day. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The Village room (no 3) is upstairs and overlooks the village green. It is quite big with a squashy...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Excellent menu and wine list, really helpful staff and beautiful, character-filled, comfortable rooms. Beautiful setting. We would definitely stay here again. A great place to get away from it all....
