I read the reviews for this hotel and was concerned at the poor reviews but decided to go and make my own mind up. I am glad I did, with reading the comments my expectations were low so I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, I agree the hotel does need some refurbishment and some tender loving care spent on it, but it was not as bad as some people have written. The rooms are ok but do need updating but they are comfortable. The food is also ok could do with fresh vegetables and the breakfast was the same as you would get in any other hotel. I would though recommend you have a room with a window as the 1st room they gave us did not have one and it was like a sauna, but reception were very helpful and changed it for us.

One positive aspect was the amazingly friendly staff but just feel sorry for the type of food and flagging infrastructure they have to some how shape and pretend to make appealing. A terrible place tailored to bus tours and getting the numbers in and out. We opted to venture out for food at every opportunity.

A quick summary:-
Staff friendly
Basic food but good
Rooms good and very clean
Excellent value for money.

I have stayed in 5 Star hotels to no star motels and find some of the comments people have left for this hotel to be somewhat unjust for what you get for the money paid.

If you want fluffy slippers, bathrobes and a la carte dinning (as some have expected from the comments on here) then this is not the hotel for you. That said I have stayed in 4 star hotels where the service and rooms would struggle to compete with this hotel.

After reading some of the bad reviews on here we were a bit worried about booking a stay at this hotel or any other Brittania Hotel, however friends had stayed at several and convinced us the Brittania hotels (the ones they had stayed at) were not as bad as the reviews suggested and after now having stayed at Bosworth Hall Hotel on a Travelzoo special I (we) would have no hesitation in booking to go back to Bosworth Hall again or to try one of the other hotels in the chain. We had no complaints at all.

The hotel building and grounds are set in a stunning location with nice walks around the grounds and some interesting areas in the grounds that are not used to their full potential, that said it was still great walking around and wondering what the house must have been like in its hayday. It was good there were booklets at reception giving a brief history of the house and the family who originally owned it. It was also a very sad story about the ghost. It did make be use the free Wifi to go on line to find out more about the house and the history of the Battle of Bosworth.

Check in on arrival was busy but we were made very welcome at reception and after checking in and as suggested by the helpful young lady on reception we went to booked a table for our evening meal before heading to your room.

Our room seemed to be at the furthest point from reception but when we got to it we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. (Don't expect boutique style rooms, if they were the price for accommodation would be a lot higher and the likes of TravelZoo and Groupon would not be able to offer such good deals). Rooms were fine, clean and tidy but a little bit dated. I think the decor is maybe late eighties. The room we had was quite large as was the bathroom with a wonderful powerful shower and plenty of hotwater. The bed at first seemed slightly hard but we found it to be extremely comfortable when we went to settle down for the night.

In the afternoon we made our way to the bar area and sampled the cream tea which at £4.95 is a must for the afternoon. Plenty of jam and cream. Other types of afternoon teas are available.

Early evening we relaxed in the bar for a short time before going for the inclusive evening meal and free bottle of wine. Our first evening meal experiance was in "Jennys" resturant which felt like an old Toby Inn. Quite a strange decor in style but it served its function. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful and friendly and the meal (considering the price paid for the package) was good. Having since read reviews regarding having to wait to go into the dining area I can only say that considering the hotel seemed to be full, people should expect some delay in being able to sit down for a meal at the time booked. Even some of the better resturants never get you to your table on time. As I say our meal was good, a carvery with all the trimmings (roast potatoes (could have been crispier), carrots, cauliflower etc, (even I ate my greens), there were also other choices of main available as well.

The breakfast in the morning was plentiful and as good as any we have had elsewhere (Burlington take note) . All staff we met were very friendly and there is free wifi throughout the hotel. Yes, the hotel could do with touching up here and there but I have stayed in far worse and paid far more and for the price paid at Bosworth Hall I would say to anyone go there I don't think you will be disappointed when you bare in mind the cost of your stay.

This hotel was very busy during our stay but it didn't spoil the experiance for us, it just meant you had to wait a bit longer then you would normally want to of expect BUT it's what you make of it that counts!

In the main this experience was so good due to the very attentive and efficient staffing team many of whom gave us excellent service and made the stay so pleasurable. Would recommend and will return.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on one of the higher floors as you can get disturb by people walking around above...

We stayed here previous, and was slightly disappointed. We decided with a groupon on voucher we would return, we up graded. Oh my gosh... The queue to book in was at least a15 minute wait.. The room was a very tired looking as was the whole hotel... There was no co ordinated furniture all very old and chipped.. The tv was out of the dark ages!
The bar area we had to wait again, we decided to go into the village to eat.. Due to the waiting times. At approx 8 am the fire alarm sounded, unsure of what to do, we had to ring reception and told false alarm, breakfast we had to again wait, 20 mins, we was herded through eventually but had to wait for most items and hot water to be refreshed.
The whole break was like that the hotel was trying to fit in as many people as possible ..
Very very disappointed with the experience.

Room Tip: Don't go

Just back from a couple of nights at Bosworth Hall and my first comment has to be regarding all of the negative reviews .... what planet are you all on? Yes the Hotel is a bit dated in it's decor (seems to be stuck in the late 80's as far as bedrooms and hallways go) but this is a BIG hotel with a quality B&B feel about it.

We (like many others) had a good deal here (£59 per room per night for dinner, bed and breakfast, bottle of wine and entry to Spindles Health Club) and after reading some of the more recent comments we were wondering what we'd be walking into (although we weren't expecting bathrobes and romantic restaurant for dinner) - however on arrival we were more than pleasantly surprised. Very friendly check-in, bit of a walk to the room (room 76 right at the end of the building on the lower ground floor), nice sized standard double room, big bathroom (fantastic shower) and what turned out that night to be a very comfy bed.

Went to the bar and enjoyed a very filling Cream Tea (great value at £4.95) and booked dinner in Jenny's Restaurant. Bright and cheerful place (and busy) for a buffet/carvery meal. Again very pleasant staff, nice "homemade" soup, fresh bread rolls to start, really nice beef and turkey and veg. selection for main and the most divine chocolate cake and cream for dessert. Suitably stuffed we then retired to the bar for a drink before bed.

The following morning it was off for breakfast (again at Jenny's). We turned up at one of the busy times and had a 10 minute wait for a table which was fine (room number taken and called when a table was ready) - breakfast was a very nice spread - and plenty of it too, constantly topped up and kept nice and hot. Second evening we were in a different room for dinner (Tollemarche Room) - Again a tasty evening meal with a nice choice of mains (beef or turkey, chicken curry, fried fish, mushroom stroganoff with all the bits to go with it). Breakfast again on the second day - repeat of the day before except no wait this time (In the Tollemarche Room again). Set us up nicely for our drive home.

This hotel gets busy (not surprised at the special rates they do) - it's a nice hotel and we will be going back (hopefully in the Summer) to enjoy wandering round most of the main house and the grounds (which is great for walking off the excesses of breakfast and dinner). Every member of staff from housekeeping to managers we spoke to was friendly and made the stay a very nice one. So if you see a special deal - give this Hotel a try - don't expect bathrobes, slippers, pens and headed notepaper in the room or any of those trimmings - but do expect good value, tasty food and a comfortable place to spend a night or two in pleasant surroundings - all of the guests we spoke to seemed to be doing that and all appeared very happy.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms do get a bit of "stomping" and banging noise from rooms upstairs, so go...
