“An over night stay for a milestone birthday”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

This is a hotel that my wife has wanted to stay at for a long long time, although it is less than half an hour from home. We had had mixed reports of this venue, so having said that we was determined to go with an 'open mind' The room we stayed in was the Savage Suite, having said that I always thought a suite had a lounge as well as a bedroom, this however had just an enormous bedroom (7 meters square) It had a 4 poster bed which was a tad hard for my liking but never the less a stunning room. The en suite bathroom was equally enormous. This room was in need of some TLC as the W/C was cracked and one of the two W/H basins was also badly cracked, and part of the gallery rail around the mirror above this sink was missing. This said it did not detract too much from the overall splendour of the room.
FOOD. We opted for the a la carte restaurant for the evening meal (£7.95 extra per person) this was well worth the extra as the food was exquisite. The breakfast the next morning was buffet style which was freshly replenished at very frequent intervals and quite delicious. The changing rooms in the spa however, (in particular the showers) was an area where improvement is desperate.
STAFF, I cannot fault the level of courteousness of every single person which we came into contact with. Top marks for a fabulous historic hotel and building

We got a room through booking.com for £45 and still felt we had paid too much! The outside looks amazing but inside is awful, they need to spend some serious money on a refurb in all areas. Our room was an ok size but had a hole in the ceiling, the curtains were hanging off, the wardrobe doors wouldn't slide, the chairs were dirty and there was a funny smell from the bathroom. Our bed was two tables with a mattress on top with a duvet that barely reached the sides. You could hear everything as people walked down the corridor, even the old folks passing wind!! It was a bit like faulty towers. Save the money you would pay for breakfast and go somewhere else. The staff were all friendly though.

We stayed at Bosworth hall for a family get together, after I had stayed with a big group the year before I jad recommended it and everyone was keen to go. We had some confusion with the rooms we booked, but brittania sorted this out for us before our stay. The rooms are outdated but keep the character of an old building. The beds are quite uncomfortable but were fine for a night or 2 (although I'd recommend taking your own pillows!) We had ground floor rooms and could hear every movement from the people in the room above but again, it is an old building. In previous years we were allocated rooms in the newer part of the hotel which were huge and lovely so we had been spoilt. We had booked into dinner both nights and only had about a 15min wait which we didn't mind considering the size of our group. Our weekend included a 99p bar between 6-11 which was such value for money. Only complaint is that on the first night the bar was heaving and only one bar staff for a while, which was abit annoying. We had a lovely meal both nights, food was hot and plenty of choice. We didn't use the entertainment as we found a pool table and seating area which was really nice. We had to wait a while for breakfast on the first morning as we went down about 9am which seemed to be a very popular time! We learnt from our mistake and went down at 8.30 the morning after and just had to wait 5 mins while they sorted out a table for us. Breakfast was lovely, again it was hot and something for everyone (its hard to have much variety for breakfast I think!) The staff were all very friendly and helpful and knew how to cater for large groups. We used the spa area, the pool could do with being updated although looked clean to me. You have to pay for a session or to use it for the weekend which I think should be included in the price. We also had treatments which we all enjoyed. We have already booked again for next year for a bigger group of us.

Having read other comments was rather concerned about our trip, even thought about cancelling, glad we didn't.
Yes it is a little faded, but we found it clean, room was nice, bed comfortable, no problem with bathroom. Staff we dealt with we're all very friendly and helpful, maybe people should try to communicate more!
We were there midweek so probably not as busy as weekends, although there was 2 coach tours there.
The evening buffet was disappointing, soggy vegetables, meat ok, no problem getting a seat.
Breakfast was plentiful.
Location very nice, recommend eating in Ye Olde Red Lion , splendid choice of beer, nice traditional pub, 2 minute walk.
We were in room 277, quite a walk, but it is a big hotel.

We stayed 22 February 2014 and had read mixed reviews. The hotel was full but check in was dealt with efficiently. Our rooms were not ready on check in but we were offered alternative rooms which were fine. The decor was a little dated but nothing to worry about. We had no trouble sitting down to eat in the evening or the following morning. The food was good and there was a pool that could be used. The only complaint I had was the bed, it was very hard and uncomfortable. Would I stay again probably yes but hope the beds are more comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and polite and we enjoyed our stay.

OK...Bosworth Hall Hotel?....After reading many reviews here on TA we were very concerned indeed on what we might find to welcome us. Of course we can only speak for ourselves. We to had a Groupon voucher for an overnights stay . We arrived at midday found a a short 5 minute queue, we were welcomed by a pleasant young lady and immediately given keys to our room. Our room (230) was very nice, clean, functional if a little small. The Bed was fine so no complaints there. We were advised to book our evenings meal which we did then off to the Spa facilities / Pool which again were fine if perhaps a little dated. Our deal included a Back/Neck massage which was 20-25 mins and very nice indeed, very relaxing. Next onto our afternoon cream tea which again was nice a few sandwiches,Salad, Scones with Jam & Cream and a few Macaroons again perfectly fine so again no complaints. After a walk around the pleasant Hotel grounds and a brief siesta in our rooms we ventured down for our evening all you can eat carvery. Yes we had to wait in the Bar area for 5 minutes but again the food was fine I would say typical of many pub type carveries, plus of course our inclusive bottle of wine. After a walk to the small village we were about to have a drink in the bar when we heard people talking of the evening entertainment above the Spa. Not at all well advertised as verified by not so many people in the venue. Arrived there just at the tail end of the quiz then a duo Velvet Souls came on to perform for the slowly increasing audience size. A most enjoyable evening was had and the bar prices were not too bad either. Finally we retired to our room, had a good nights sleep and were already awake when a false fire alarm went off for a few minutes. Down for Breakfast which once more was perfectly fine with lots of choice with all the usual from a buffet breakfast menu. Into the Gym the next morning, now although plenty of equipment a good clean could be done with here I agree. So all in all for £79 for 2 of us which included overnights stay, evening meal, Cream Tea, Breakfast, Massage and evenings entertainment I would find it very hard to complain at anything to be honest. Yes its not 5 star but neither is the price!!

Room Tip: Room 230 was very pleasant...

I have just come back, from 1 night stay, my third visit over the years, I really love this hotel, great value, it cost £49 (dinner and breakfast bottle of sparkling wine) what a bargain. Food is good, lovely building and staff are pleasant, it may not be 5 star but excellent value.
