Holiday Inn Express Nuneaton
Ranked #5 of 12 Hotels in Nuneaton
Reviewed 5 July 2014

I had to spend 2 days in Hinckley, and found the hotels in Leicester rather expensive. This Express was considerably cheaper, extremely easy to find, and up to the usual Express standard.
Reception staff were extremely courteous, and gave the impression of genuinely wanting to welcome you
Close by are pubs / restaurants, cinema, and fast food outlets
Will certainly use it again when working in the Leicester area

The staff at this hotel are a credit to the Holiday Inn. Everyone was so helpfull and nothing was too much trouble. We were there for an army reunion and we were looked after from start to finish. The breakfast was nice, but would have been better with some bacon and fried eggs. There are plent of places in the area to eat from a pub to a beefeater and Frankie & Bennys. A most enjoyerble stay. Thank you once again to a fabulous staff.

This hotel is a credit to the Holiday Inn Express brand. The Manager and staff really know all about customer service ! From the moment of arrival to our departure we were all well looked after. We were a reunion of 36 male and female, average age 65. The rooms were immaculate as was the rest of the areas. Breakfast was hot, plenty of and tasty. There is no evening meal but a one minute walk away from reception there is a pub serving tasty reasonably priced food all day. Spacious car parking, friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, and a 24 hour bar if required, all makes for a truely enjoyable experience, Thank you Holiday Inn Express !

Right... I've stayed here three times for an annual event, the hotel is nice, it's clean, tidy, the breakfast is good, location is fine but that's about it...

Firstly the hotel ran out of beer, totally inexcusable and poor management, we moved onto spirits so an inconvenience but no harm done, a discounted price or free drink should have the least the hotel does to pacify customers who,we're expecting a 24hr bar.

The night bar man could of founded the TV series "grumpy old men" not a "hello", "can I help" in sight we were greeted with "I wish I hadn't come in tonight" as he gazed over a full bar!!

As I mentioned, the rooms aren't bad, why make up a double bed by pushing two singles together? it's uncomfortable and encourages you to sleep only on one side - if I wanted a single I would have booked one!

The biggest issue by far is the stupidity of putting a toaster with no instructions under a smoke sensor... We stayed for one night this year and the hotel alarms went off at 7am and 8am.. Last year it was once at 7am and the year before once..

For god sake how can you be so stupid? Speaking to the receptionist It was informed it was a regular occurrence!! So panicking your residence is ok? Here's us helping disabled people from the 3rd floor at 7am thinking the hotel was on fire only to be greeted by shrugged shoulders and one word from the hi vis wearing member of staff - "toaster"

Then for the same thing to happen again in one hour - Jesus Christ what planet are you on? And no fobbing off that this is not a regular occurrence - three separate occasions in three years...

In short we didn't get a quality sleep, we didn't get what we paid for, the staff were unhelpful and unwilling to discuss what the hotel was going to pacify disgruntled customers..

Get a grip!!

Dear Guest

Firstly we would like to thank you for your feedback and for your return visit to our Hotel. This was a great weekend where the Hotel was extremely busy and we had guests visiting Nuneaton for all kinds of events.
We would like to apologise that over this particular weekend there was no Carling or Worthington's available, however, would like to offer that alternatives were available such as Grolsch, Tiger, Corona, Budweiser, Hobgoblin and Guinness. Other bottled beers are available.
At no point do we encourage such negative attitudes from our team and we are disappointed if they did not appear to show willing.
As with a large majority of Hotels we do have rooms with zip and link beds that are offered as double and kingsize. This is to enable Hotels to separate the beds and offer a twin room should it be needed. We appreciate this does not offer the best quality of sleep and can assure you we have replaced 25 mattresses in the first quarter of this year. The next 25 mattresses will be replaced in August and so on until all 100 bedrooms have new mattresses by March 2015. We do want to offer our guests the best service and quality sleep and hope by regularly updating the rooms and public areas this will do so.
We empathise with your frustrations with regards to the toasters. We have had two new toasters this year so can assure you that the toaster on your last visit and the two new toasters on this visit and their position in regards to the fire alarm are non consequential to the alarms sounding. Instructions are available next to the toasters and we maintain their temperature settings as much as possible but these can be adjusted and on busy mornings such as the weekend guests do have their own preferences to how they like their toast.
We have received full explanations as to why the alarms sounded but must assure you we have to evacuate the building in-line with Warwickshire Fire Laws and IHG Health and Safety Fire regulations.
We certainly do not want any of our guests to leave the Hotel disgruntled and sincerely hope that this does not deter you from staying with us again.

Kind Regards

Even though it is "only" a Holiday Inn Express, the friendliness and attention of staff makes a clear difference. Yes, the breakfast is the same as in any other HI express, the rooms are recently updated and again, the staff makes you feel very welcome. Keep going back.

Room Tip: ask for a room to the back, it's quiter at night

I am staying at the hotel just for tonight and was greeted by Graham/kevin (Scouser). As a female travelling on my own I was really pleased at how welcoming and friendly the staff and guest were. Not only did I get a friendly welcome, but he sorted out my telephone in the room, set up the wi-fi on my laptop then ordered me an indian takeaway for dinner. I ate it down in the breakfast area where there were guests enjoying the football. Calam was also on the front desk and was just as friendly. Thanks guys I would definatelty reccomend this hotel.

Have stayed regularly at this hotel for two years. The front office staff and reception are first class. The new décor is a vast improvement. The breakfast continues to be at a high standard.
however the last three visits has shown a marked decline in house keeping standards.I always have a ground floor disabled room staying two or three nights. The problems have been room not cleaned or beds made.Tea making suppliers not replenished. Insufficient towels for two people .Thehousekeeping staff need better training and supervision
