“ONE TO AVOID!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2011

The reception is nice, location ok for ease to the town, service was hit and miss. Staff really pleasant but either forgot or too busy - when I ordered my breakfast this was never brought out but perhaps a good thing as two of my colleagues had eaten chicken curries there the night before and got mild food poisoning! The rooms were grot; stained badly fitted carpets, decor in some of the rooms really awful, wall paper peeling off, damp, no heating, very hard uncomfortable beds with wafer thin duvets, curtains and nets really shabby and hanging off rails, lots of noise from outside and other rooms - not their fault just no sound proofing at all, no water from the taps in some rooms, showers spat boiling hot water ... my best advice is if you dare to dice with death, take out life insurance before you stay here!

Thank you for your review. We appreciate you taking time and giving us feedback and constructive comments are also welcome.

With regard to your comments about the rooms, the hotel has an ongoing refurbishment programme and all key areas of rooms are being addressed.

You say that one of your guests had mild food poisoning. This is obviously a very serious accusation. We are surprised that you did not contact us if you believed that we were to blame. We pride ourselves on the quality of our food, and can guarantee that your party would not have been served meat that was past its sell by date.

We rely on customer feedback to constantly improve our service, but are always glad to have the opportunity to rectify and discuss any issues as they happen. We hope that you will tell us immediately if you are unhappy with anything on your next visit to our hotel

Came here for mothers day, one of the worst meals I've ever had to pay for, service very poor.

We had our daughters wedding reception at the hotel and family also stayed. The room is spacious we had a DJ, the food received countless compliments and was so much better than any buffet style offering you tend to see, an we did shop around. The staff were really helpful, friendly polite we were well looked after.

Our relatives reported that the rooms were very comfortable and well appointed, the breakfast was lovely. Public areas are comfortable, refurbished and full of character, and the meals were reported to be really good especially steaks per brother in law.

We will be recommending this and shall see you soon again.

Thank you for making it a lovely evening.

Was stopping over and meeting some friends in Rugby, opted to give Grosvenor's new Fusion Bar & Brasserie a shot instead of popping into town, and what a night it was. The bar and restaurant was packed out a very vibrant atmosphere in there, great choice of drinks on the bar, the only downside was the wait for the table for the restaurant as it was so busy, but was definitely worth the wait, the service was brilliant, the waitresses were very attentive, the food was mouthwatering, a choice of different cuisines from Italian to Thai to Indian, it had it all. Check in was great, the receptionist upgraded my room from a single to a double because of a previous cancellation, room was very spacious and had all the amenities required, great shower, comfy bed, and a TV with built in DVD and Freeview. All in all was a great night, definitely know where I'm staying when I visit Rugby next

I walked from the train station few minutes. Me an colleague stayed 3
nights, I can't fault the staff they were so keen to impress so that's appalling what the lady centurion called them,. Food was good a lot of choice limited rose wine choice but the house was ok an the italian nearby is worth visiting. Do have the breakfast because its cooked and not a buffet sat there for hours. An I would say book taxis in advance with hotel seems its really busy in the morning.

The only negative thing about this hotel was the length of the queue to check in. I had a small double room but it was well designed and felt spacious -it had everything you would need. The shower was excellent and the bed comfy, excellent television with freeview built in DVD just what i need to watch DVD bought on the day. The food was excellent and service very friendly and unobtrusive. Great menu very well priced, the food was better than some 5* hotels that i have stayed. Will be back very soon for more...

Reception area had strong smell of curry, almost matched by the same smell in the room. Duvet cover dirty, overall impression was that cleanliness is not high on list of priorities e.g. Dirty coffee cup in room presumably from last person who stayed. Pictures on their web site are far from reality. I spent 10 minutes in the room ringing round to find another hotel and left. I had to reluctantly pay for the room as the management refused to accept my reasons for leaving. Avoid this one if you can.
