“A pleasant suprise..”
Reviewed 16 May 2013

Having passed this venue on the A5 many times, it was a pleasant suprise to have the opportunity and reason to give it a try. The opportunity came via "Living Social" and the reason, an anniversary meal.
Our booking was for 7.15 and were politely met and lead to our choice of table, a couple of glasses of wine and the menus quickly followed, the choice of food being quite comprehensive. I chose a Pork Rib with a spicey sauce and her ladyship a large filled Mushroom, both beautifully presented. Our mains were Gammon & Egg with hand-made chips (lovely) and salad (I would have prefered a veg, say..peas?) madam chose a Chicken Burger with Spicey Breadcrumbs and extra cheese, which she loved.
There were a number of residents in the dining room when we arrived, the pictures were taken as we left and we were last. The staff really friendly and attentive, food choice, taste and presentation really good.. do give it a try!

We stayed last Saturday night, thought it strange that the restaurant wasn't open at the weekend and the only food on offer was breakfast in the morning. The room was comfortable, but a little tired.Free parking available and in a convenient location.

Attending a wedding here recently and was not impressed. The staff at reception and the manager that was called to assist were both rude, surly and unhelpful! The room was very bland, and there was dust behind the tv and at the foot of the open wardrobe, however we got a reduced rate for being wedding guests, so not too bad but i would not pay full price for this! They also felt the need to charge £15 for an extra bed for a child under 5 - this also "included breakfast for said child"! I'm sorry how much do they think a small child eats for breakfast? - definitely not £15 worth, thats for sure!
Breakfast was minimal and cannot cater for more than a few guests at a time. We had to wait for everything as they only feel the need to bring out 5 eggs at a time, 8 sausages at time etc.
Bar drinks are very overpriced, considering the location - similar prices to a luxury 4 star hotel - which they definitely are not!
Food was very average - we ended up travelling a mile up the road to the nearest Macdonalds (there's also a Pizza Hut nearby!).
The saving grace was Alex who seemed to be in charge of the ceremony - very professional, organsied and polite. The other staff however, leave alot to be desired.

Great hotel conveniently located just off the M6.

I have stayed at Oak Farm on a number of occasions, the rooms are spotless and the staff are always friendly and courteous and I love the open fire in the winter!

I would definitely recommend the hotel and the food served in the bistro which is amazing.

We attended a Work's Christmas Dinner Dance here and we were expecting great things as it looks like a great venue but we were disappointed. The standard of food service was not great and seemed a little dis-organised. The soup I had was very powdery. The waiting staff were clearly on a deadline as all through the night cutlery and plates were taken before they were finished with. My colleague had her starter taken whilst she was eating it but was too polite to ask them to give it back.

The salmon I had was very good but other than salt and pepper on the table we had to ask for mustard, cranberry etc and the mustard never appeared. Bizarrely the dessert portions were enormous and easily enough for two people? Coffee was served by a huge off-white plastic jug that was left in the middle of each table.

As soon as the food was finished the waiting staff came round and took the beautiful table lamp decorations away, leaving cups, plates, knives and cracker wrappers? Surely this is the wrong way round? It's not somewhere I will be going again.
