“Fine for a no frills overnighter”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

Stayed recently as part of a business trip. The hotel is adequate for requirements but is definately "budget". There is the bonus of a gym and the food available tasted good and there was a reasonable amount of choice. The room was ok however having stayed a couple of times in previous months it can be inconsistent. The location is not amazing being next to the M5 underpass and as a result I would not recommend a late night walk however the overall stay offers value for money and is a reasonable "no frills" stop off. I would stay again as the gym in the evening is a good way to pass the time and is around half the price of other hotels in the area without gyms.

I am a seasoned traveller and have stayed in high and low budget hotels and this hotel is not for couples or families who wish to stay through the week. The hotel is well priced and furnished for workers staying away which, reflects in the rooms and general decor.

It's friendly but the rooms require better beds, quilts and pillows and the 2 inch gaps at the bottom of the doors need sorting. The bed is very uncomfortable and you feel like you are sleeping on the floor.

The bathroom has an excellent high power shower and is generously supplied with toiletries and very spacious.

Rooms ( mine 332) was spacious.

The hallways are noisy and you can here slamming of doors when the work men get up early.

The lounge/bar area is very spacious and comfortable with nice decor. Parking is also good.

Staff were friendly and food was plenty full and good

Overall you get what you pay for

I have to say, I will not recommend this place.  It was near the motorway, and this is probably what causes it's biggest fault.  The room was so dusty that it becomes quite irritating.  The bed sheets were uncomfortable.  It was hot and since it was noisy and dusty to open the windows, the room becomes very stuffy. Door handles, lights and a hair dryer in one of our rooms are broken.  We did ask for things to be fixed, but they only fixed things that they could immediately get materials off (a light bulb was broken, the staff took one from another room to replaced ours).  Wifi does not work in rooms, only in the lounge and restaurant.
Things you could also consider, it is very cheap and includes breakfast.  We were greeted by a nice woman the reception.  There's a gym, Chinese restaurant and another restaurant that none of us had tried.  It is hard to spot from the road side, but its right next to a Toy R Us after you turn onto the road.

If your going to the gym wear gloves the equipment is filthy
Dirty cups & bottles lying around, used tissues on the floor, broken equipment with hand written notices can you usually be seen, tvs blaring music to no one.
It feels very uncared for and hagered
Changing rooms stink of sewers and when you open the shower cubicle doors wait for the smell to hit you - ive even seen mould in the 1 cubicle.
When walking across the car park look for broken glass, bits of bricks and bit of the flag pole that have fallen down.
My car has been damaged twice on the car park dont park on there people dont care about your vehicle!
Could be a nice place but they havnt got a clue
Membership is cheap and you can see why

Room Tip: On the back is a cement factory and on the front is the main road and motorway on 1 side is mc donal...

Stayed here for a two night weekend while visiting Family., Price was£42.50a night which included aContinental Breakfast, hotelhas a Gym,A chinese resteraunt and a normal resteraunt. Situated just off the M5at Jct 2,next door to McDonalds and not far from a Large Asda Store.

Rooms are nothing special in fact the bedroom itself was rathere smalland the Double bed was probably the smallest Double ive ever slept in at a hotel. On arrival there was no Kettle in the room, Chair for the dressing Table/Desk was missing and so was a bedside light but overall wasnt too bad.

As stated by previous posters you get what you pay for, however as this was booked on a Late room I was fairly happy but certainly wouldntpay the Price that was supposedto be the normal fee

I have read the reviews and thought I would add mine from the perspective of a person who stayed there due to having to work in the area for a couple of days. .The majority of gripes appear to be from people who were staying there as a couple/family/sightseeing/break etc and I would imagine if I was in their boat I would too possibly find something to complain about or perhaps even read trip advisor before booking it!!! yes its next to flyover, yes its full of those dirty workmen types ( you know the ones that have to work away occasionally), yes service at time is slow, however to put it into perspective I found it to be clean, I found the food of a good standard the breakfast piping hot and cooked fresh, the majority of guests were workmen and from what I saw were all treated like family, the bar prices cheap and all the staff really friendly, It is a family run hotel and is obviously getting busier as its reputation as an ideal base for workmen grows( these are people that will return on a regular basis) so hopefully the staff nos will increase.
In a nutshell if you are looking for a base if you are working in the area, want some hot grub when you finish and a couple of beers and a welcoming feel then the Travellers Inn is an ideal choice, however if you are wanting a romantic break etc then book somewhere else!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front as all the rooms overlooking Macdonalds are subjected to the local boy r...
