I am actually on our second day and I'm do disappointed we travelled from the north especting the facility to be a high standard. We paid 900.00 for apartments gold standard I'd hate to see bronze. Worn out tired place facility look like they haven't been touched since 60's staff don't help and your left to roam around and find your own way. No organisation staff don't know anything. Food is tasteless un imaginative all restaurant (canteen) are cold dirty. Without continuing. By time you done 4 days arcade to kill boredom we could have gone to Spain for two weeks. Never ever again.

My Daughter and I stayed at the Oyster Bay Appartments for a four night break. Although the weather was vey cold for the time of year (March) the appartments were very warm, using the heating supplied. I was concerned that the beds might not be comfortable, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We found the food to be very good in both quality and pricing, we tried Papa Johns and the Beachcomber Inn. Any staff that we had contact with were very polite and helpful, even to the point of stopping to answer a query if they overheard us talking. It is worth trying the Spa in the Ocean Hotel at £19 per person for two hours we thoght that this was good value for the money.
We didn't have any children with us but were aware of the many shows and activieties available on site.

This is the second year running we have been to butlins at bognor. Last year we stayed in the wooden chalets which were ok. This year we decided to stay in the recently built wave hotel which we could see being built last year from our wooden chalet. The new wave hotel is very nice, spacious and very modern. The rooms are nice and clean and do exactly what you need them to do.
The main eating area is a place called the deck. Although it gets very busy the welcome is good from the staff and the breakfasts we had were excellent, with plenty of choice. The entertainment is very much aimed at the younger generation within the resort with Sesame Street being on the bill in centre stage. This all very well during the day for the kids but as far as adult entertainment goes its somewhat lacking. For example after having a evening meal say around 7.30pm you are then left with few options as what to do for the rest of the evening. If you don't fancy watching the show that is on ( this weekends guest was Brian Connelly ) then you are at a bit of loose end as apart from sitting in a bar and drinking all night there's not much to do. Ok some of you will say you can go bowling, yes ok ... But not every night.!! Or play the slot machines if you can afford it!!! They don't pay out in cash by the way... It's cash vouchers that you need a million of to trade in for a toy car!!! ( they don't give much away).
Three nights was enough for us over the Easter weekend any more and the boredome of the evenings would really start to set in. Why would you want to go away somewhere and sit in you room and watch tv when you can do that at home.?
The swimming pool is good.... Well staffed and clean and good fun.
I'm not putting the place down, but just be aware that at night the show areas get very full with families and getting a seat is hard. The noise levels of kids screaming in some of the restaurants can get on your nerves a bit, so if you're looking for a quiet night and a meal then choose wisely as most of the eating places cater for kids and with kids..... Comes noise and lots of running around.
No real bad points on my behalf... Staff are friendly.... Meals are good quality. Just bring your board games for the evenings if you don't like slot machines and standing upto watch the shows in the evenings.

We went at Xmas and decided to go back for Easter- we decided to try the Shoreline Hotel this time as they looked so good when we visited last- you cannot fault the staff- everyone makes an effort to talk to you and I was really impressed- the room itself was good although there was a hole in the arm of the chair and the divan had stains on it- loved the extra touch of the animal shaped towels- had a crab and a bunny to greet us when we came home!!! Bit disappointed that bed was remade every day despite fact blood stained from sons nose bleed on first night- would have hoped they had seen this and replaced. Really impressed that they had gone to a lot of trouble for Easter so children got bunny food and magic key to put out on the Saturday night and "Easter bunny" visited during the day on Sunday leaving all the children an Easter egg- also impressed with the spring farmyard animals- had breakfast in the restaurant each day and was really impressed with the selection- meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, toast and usual cooked breakfast- great quality- ate in restaurant one night at the buffet which was quite expensive £17.95 adult, £8.95 child) - although was very good quality- wasn't very impressed to see sautéed potatoes from breakfast still under the table at dinner- loved the Sesame Street show which was great fun for all!!!!! All in all a great weekend and only very minor niggles- can't fault the staff who make an extreme effort to involve the children and if you have any queries or questions its never too much bother to ask any member of staff

Lifts on check out day was a wait and you have to book to eat in chosen restaurants or you could miss out.

we are staying in the ocean hotel for the third time, last Easter it was ten out of ten. This year it is dirty, broken arcades and bad entertainment. We will be not comming back for a forth time. The plates had no been cleaned properly in the restaurant and had left over food on them. There was less entertainment than last year so every body crammed in to centre stage with no dance floor and no ware to sit.

First of all I think 4.5 would more accurately represent the mark out of 5 I'd give this holiday, but the .5 isn't available so I've scored it a 4, the reason being a few of the slats in the double bed in the apartment kept coming out and we had to keep crawling under to fix them back in. Thankfully we're a family with a sense of humour so we actually saw the funny side, I guess more negative people would cry about this entirely ruining their holiday. But once the slats were back in place the bed was extremely comfortable.

This problem aside, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the standard self catering apartment we stayed in. We arrived to find all beds made up and complimentary tea and coffee, as well as a washing up pack in the kitchen (something we've never had at rival UK holiday parks). The apartment was clean and comfortable. The Butlins website says that standard accomodation doesn't include a toaster or an iron and ironing board, but they were in our apartment.

As for the park itself, I've never come across a park where every single member of staff seems so genuinely happy to work there. From the red coats to the staff in the on site Spar supermarket, everyone had a nice cheerful smile. The shows for the children were fantastic and professionally done. My 12 year old son loved the free fairground. I've read reviews where people complain about having to pay for extras, but to be honest we found so much to do that was free that we barely had to pay for anything other than food. And compared to other parks that charge for extras, I didn't think the prices of the odd thing we did pay for was unreasonable.

As we were self catering, we only ate out once which was a quick meal from Burger King in the Skyline Pavilion after one of the kids shows. My only complaint about that was the ridiculous prices, even Burger King in central London charge less for their meals.

A couple of times during the week we ventured out into Bognor Regis. Such a shame the weather wasn't great as I can imagine the seafront is beautiful in sunny weather. On the whole we found the town a pleasant, friendly place. The only downside was a shopping trip to a local supermarket where the lady working on the self service checkouts was miserable, rude and unhelpful and the supermarket itself had a strange layout where you couldn't find anything. I won't go back there next time I'm in the town.

To sum it up we had a fantastic week and my children really didn't want to leave. We'll definately return next year and are going to try one of the hotels next time.
