Very noisy at night with thoughtless guests and their children. We stayed with a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old who were disturbed by the noise from others. Very inconsiderate. I realise that this is not the fault of the resort but it did spoil our enjoyment of our break.
We had no hot water in our chalet and reported this the first morning of our stay but it was not seen to until we had to report it again the following day.
On a positive note we enjoyed the facilities and the food was excellent. The children had a thoroughly wonderful time. We spent a fortune but that is to be expected on holiday.
The accomodation was basic - we stayed in a silver room. For 5 of us after discounts it cost almost £800 for a three night stay. We paid extra for the B line pass which cost £75 for the 5 of us. This entitled us to get into the show venue 15 minutes before those who had not bought a pass. It was still a free for all with people running, pushing and shoving to get a front seat. Then others who came in later were taking chairs and planting themselves at the front anyway.
All in all there was loads for the children to do and kept them entertained but I don't think I would go again.

The chalets was good sized , okay beds, but no one came to clean our room for a week but last year we stayed in the 'wave hotel' that was great, the rooms get cleaned everyday! with fresh towels, and tea and coffee facilities. The beds was made everyday as well. For the meals (breakfast and evening meal), the was really nice, they have a wide range of variety from little kids means to lovely adult meals, you can eat as much as you want with some lovely range and desserts (their is salad and fruit as well). During the day was exciting entertainment for little children with a huge arcade area there is slot machines to playing pool to bowling and swimming. In the evening are awesome with the entertainment for small kids to adults but their prices for drinks are defiantly over priced! (for a normal size for a J2O is around £3.00!!) overall the stuff are really friendly especially the 'redcoats'. Also its only £20.00 for 7 day wifi anywhere aground the resort!

Hi John,

We can't tell you how pleased we are to hear your enjoyed your stay with us at Bognor Regis, we will make sure we raise your issue with housekeeping (you do need to pay extra for house keeping in our Silver apartments, which may be why you did not receive any) although we will look into it nevertheless. Sounds like you had a fab time last year in the Wave hotel, it's so exciting inside, especially for children :)

We'd love to see you again soon!

Thanks

Maria

Just returned home after 4 nights at the Wave Hotel with two grandchildren aged 10 and 5 - the accommodation was excellent cleanliness second to none - we dined at the Deck restaurant which came under the premier dining plan and I cannot fault the choice or quality of the food - there is so much to keep the children occupied here and the staff are always eager to help - we have already booked for next year so I suppose that speaks volumes

staff varied the red coats were excellent everyone else were pretty poor to very rude especially in hotshots bar, plus the whole place is just a way to fleece you out of your cash as it's geared to price the things the kids want most as the most expensive.

Hi Steffibiz,

Thank you for taking time out of your day to write to us. We're pleased that your children enjoyed their stay with us, although we understand this is not the case for yourself. We try to make our resorts and resort team as friendly as possible and we are disappointed to hear that you felt we did not live up to these standards. We will make sure your comments regarding our team are passed onto resort, so we can investigate into this further. We have tried to make as much as possible free at Butlins, such as the Splash Waterworld and our entertainment, and although some of our activities do cost extra we try to keep these to a minimum.

We hope that you will consider visiting us again.

Thanks

Maria

We have just returned from a weeks stay with my daughter and her family and my son and his family. We stayed in gold apartments which were clean and fairly well equipped but very small. We were fortunate with the weather but the apartments were extremely stuffy and it was impossible to keep them cool. Daily cleaning was supposed to be provided but was not usually done until late in the afternoon, often after we had returned, and seemed to be due to unrealistic workloads expected of the cleaning staff. The entertainment included in the cost of the holiday was excellent and the children in our party had a great time. However, I was appalled to see the state of a rope ladder connecting part of the play area at the Beachcomber bar which was badly frayed and had actually broken. My grandson fell through and luckily was not injured. I informed the staff, in the bar, and the area was immediately closed but I understand this was the second time this had happened to the same piece of equipment In one week. The other disturbing thing involved the public lift going up to the centre stage area. My daughter and her family, including a two year old in a buggy, were coming down in the lift with another partially sited couple. When the lift stopped the couple got out first but as my little grandson was being pushed out in his buggy the lift began to close on him and it took a great deal of strength, on the part of his father to stop it from crushing the buggy. Understandably my daughter and her partner were very upset by this and immediately approached one of the security staff to tell them what had happened. His response was " the lift has seen better days" and seemed aware of the potential danger. I find it hard to believe that a big corporation like Butlins can have a piece of equipment which would not pass health and safety regulations.

Last visited about 6 years ago, overall not a lot changed , there is a new Wave hotel which looked very nice.
We stayed in the Silver room only accommodation which desperately needs updating still very similar to when we stayed in the 1980's with old furniture and a little square t v which must be extinct now. I know you only get what you pay for but don't know how they can be called SILVER accommodation.
We had the meal deal in the standard food hall food was plentiful and my only complaint is that I think 6.30 is to early to close.
The swimming pool is great and had lots of fun as is he fun fair.
There is lots of entertainment to be enjoyed.
I think too many things have to be paid for as extras and can put a lot of money on the price of a holiday they used to be nearly all free..
There is a beach outside Butlins, pebbles but some sand when tide goes out about 5 to 10 minute walk into town along the promenade and there is also a Brewers Fayre restaurant by the prom.
Butlins is good value if you can get a bargain but the prices change so much is difficult to keep up with them. I booked day before we went and would return at the right price, Bognor generally more expensive than Minehead or Skegness.
The children loved it.

Hi Sue,

Thank you for coming back to visit Butlins after 6 years, although you felt not much has changed since then, we're pleased that you had an enjoyable weekend. We will take into account your comments regarding the updating of accommodation as this is something we want to continue to maintain to a high standard.

The main reason our dining restaurants close at this time is to make sure our guests are able to fit in the evening entertainment. We try to take into account all our guests requirements and have found that this time is best suited, although we understand this does not suit all and we will pass your feedback onto resort.

We're pleased to hear that you would come back and that your children really enjoyed their time with us. We hope to see you soon.

Thanks

Maria

We have been to Butlins six times, opting for the gold apartment the last 5 visits. Last year everything was amazing and we felt the additional cost was well worth it. This time it was so different. The apartment was shabby - the carpet was badly stained, the shower seal was damaged making the floor wet after each shower, the radiator was rusty, there were no dishwasher tablets ( none in stock!), light in the bedroom was not working, and with a 15 month old baby and a 7 year old, our ground floor flat with patio was on the main entrance road, making it noisy and unsafe. The bedroom window had to be kept closed, to keep out the noise, especially with delivery lorries arriving from early in the morning and most of the day. The 'gold' reception was closed a lot of the time, and wouldn't take bookings for extra activities, and when we spoke to someone we only got a 'sorry you feel like that'. The restaurant wasn't as nice as we remembered, and one evening we were told there would be a 15 -20 minute wait as there were busy. The fact was there were plenty of tables, just none of them had been cleared. I counted 6 from the door!
And last but not least - where are the grab machines gone, the ones that the children can win small cheap soft toys?? In the time we were there we didn't see ONE person with a toy from the larger grab machines!! The arcade just seems a bit of a rip-off now, and the redeemed gifts from the ticket collections are very cheap and cheerful. Also £20 for a four seater go-cart seemed extortionate. It all came across as a money grabbing exercise, corporate greed has really kicked in this year.
We left a day early and doubt we'll be back in the near future.
