“ducks for breakfast”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We visited this lovely B and B in April. The rooms were very comfortable and impeccable. We signed in for dinner - delicious; you need to give 12 hours notice from the menu on the website. It is a beautifully quiet location with extensive gardens and a duck pond with a few trespassing moorhens.A squadron of ducks and 10 ducklings arrived at the back door for breakfast, and who could blame them! What a menu, they had special porridge and toast, and we were spoiled for choice on the generous menu. Brian and Bev were very welcoming and friendly hosts. Go there. It's delightful.

Room Tip: The oak room is not en suite, but the bathroom is only ,literally, 2 steps away.

Our objective was the Bolney Estate Vineyard tour as we like a yearly British vineyard weekend. My wife found Broxmead Paddock B&B on the web. We felt it was adequate and took the “Gold Package” and an extra night.
Turns out the best part of the weekend was not the wine but the stay (although the wine was very good).
Bev and Brian (Proprietors) are lovely people and fantastic characters. Fun, welcoming, accommodating, thoughtful and intentional in making you feel special.
Broxmead Paddock is a clean, comfortable and relaxing home away from home. The gardens are beautiful and full of the wonders of nature. A small bluebell wood, pond, chickens and natural wildlife including Rabbits, Ducks and Moorhens all around.
We were lucky to witness the 10 new ducklings on our second day.
Most memorable was the breakfasts. Especially my Birthday candles on my bacon sandwich.
Our evening meal (My Venison Burger) was exquisite and I do not use the term lightly (I like my quality food).
We will make a definite point of returning.

Room Tip: Best rooms at the rear with a view of the rabbits in the garden.

If you’re looking for bed & breakfast accommodation in Mid Sussex then I can see no reason to look anywhere else. Broxmead Paddock is a delightful house with a wonderful garden managed by friendly, accommodating hosts. The room in which I stayed was spotlessly clean with everything one would need. Ground coffee was provided with fresh milk available - a nice touch. The breakfast was superb with an excellent choice of hot options on offer, along with cereals and freshly-pressed fruit juice. Highly recommended.

Having grown up in the nearby village of Cuckfield, we were returning to the area for a family wedding. From the point of finding Broxmead Paddock via Tripadvisor, everything in relation to our booking was very straightforward. When we arrived, using the comprehensive directions provided on their website, we were greeted by both Brian and Bev who clearly take both pleasure and satisfaction from offering excellent accommodation to their guests but also to ensuring that their guests are well taken care of.
We had requested a family room, with a double bed and two singles for our young boys. All the beds were comfortable, everything was spotlessly clean and the en-suite bathroom of a decent size and supplied with plenty of towels.
Breakfast was sumptuous both in quantity and quality, with a selection of cereals much to our youngsters' satisfaction, and a choice of cooked options which ensured that their father was equally satiated. The freshness and quality of the eggs was assured by the presence of a chicken run in the garden, the sausages were locally sourced, and of wonderful flavour and consistency, and the bacon equally lean and tasty. Accompanied by as many rounds of fresh toast as you could wish for, freshly brewed coffee and locally sourced juices, this was a breakfast that would have put many good hotels to shame.
Many other guests have spoken of the sense of peace and tranquillity, in spite of Broxmead Paddock's proximity to the A23, and we can also attest to this. Both Brian and Bev are wonderfully affable hosts, and truly make their guests feel at home. We would have no hesitation in booking again should the need arise, and felt a suitable sense of schadenfreude at the fate of the numerous other wedding guests who had plumped for some of the chain-hotel options in the area. They shared no happy stories of chatting to chickens, indulging in a lengthy, relaxed full-cooked breakfast in front of a roaring fire, overlooking a pretty garden with pond and indulgent hosts who did not look askance at the energetic shenanigans of 4 year old and 6 year old boys.
What's not to love?

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet given the location. Probably the best advice is to book early, as Broxmead Padd...

An oasis of calm in this mad world - Bev and Brian treated us like their own family and we will miss them loads. Beautiful rooms and grounds, this place is a true gem.
Bev is a wonderful hostess with amazing and funny stories to tell.

We had a fabulous 2 nights here to allow us a drive free visit to the nearby Bolney Vineyard.

Brian and Bev are the best hosts you could wish for and nothing is too much trouble. Service and quality abound and wrapped in a gentle banter to boot.

We ate here the first night and the 3 course evening meal option is the best value with great choice and quality. It's also a short 10 minute stroll to the nearby Bolney Stage pub if you want a more traditional eatery albeit not as good a value as Broxmead Paddock of course ;-)

Breakfast is equally good with eggs from their own chickens (if the chickens are obliging).

Facilities are good, bed comfortable.

Can't recommend this establishment highly enough!

Room Tip: We had the Elm room. Very good shower!

We stayed here as we were going on the nearby vinyard tour. Bev and Brian couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly! They greeted us with complimentary cream tea and offered transport to the vinyard. They are a lovely couple who made you feel like you were visiting friends! The B&B is hidden away in a lovely wooded area making you feel you've been transported into a little corner of tranquility. Beautiful grounds, lovely character house and wonderful bedrooms. A wonderful weekend! Thank you!
