Very comfortable rooms, if a little tired. The staff were very friendly. I stayed here weekdays for over 5 months and never had reason for complaint. The grounds are well kept and the surrounding areas had nice walks and good cycling roads.

Room Tip: I stayed in several rooms and never had one in a bad position

We really value feedback particularly from someone who stayed with us over such a long and regular period of time .

The staff do really care and look after regular long stay guests and try to accommodate all their individual needs

Once again, thanks to the staff at the Hickstead Hotel for the flawless service given to our colleagues who stayed at the Hickstead Hotel in April 2014. As a local company, we use this hotel regularly and as usual, our group of 2, then 8 then 16 over 3 consecutive nights were very happy with their stay with the hotel.

They ate in the restaurant and used the bar and as usual, enjoyed the evenings there.

Staff were attentive as always and some of our guests were given an upgraded room, which they thoroughly liked.

Thanks again

Esther

Thank you as always for your lovely comments .

I was really pleased that you were looked after as usual and value the continued business you have given us through difficult times . We try hard to welcome and treat everyone as individuals and do pride ourselves on a personal service level which goes beyond expectations .

We look forward to continuing to offer our hospitality on a similar basis in the future

Best Wishes

Giles

We went to this hotel for afternoon tea for mothers day, it was brilliant and the staff were very helpful and nice. The grounds are lovely and the hotel is very easy to find. We will look to go back there again.

Stayed here for just 1 night on a package which included dinner, bed and breakfast plus a bottle of Prosecco. We'd spent the day in Brighton and it's only about a 20-25 minute drive to the Hickstead Hotel. Very quiet even with a wedding reception in full swing - they didn't disturb us. The room was slightly dated but very clean and comfortable. Dinner was great - food gorgeous and hot and the service from Jenny was excellent. Breakfast next morning also great - when several young male members of the wedding party came down the restaurant manager brought out a jug of water for them as they were feeling the effects of the night before! Nice touch I thought. All the staff were helpful and are an asset to this hotel - would certainly recommend it and stay there again if in the area.

This was Robert and my third visit to the Hickstead. Arriving the weekend of the 22 March. It is always great to come back to somewhere where they remember you and are so pleased to see you back.
We had been given an afternoon tea gift from a member of the family and we decided to make a weekend of it and stay at the Hickstead.
Robert my partner booked us in for Saturday night and when we went down to dinner we were met by Jenny, the Restaurant supervisior like an old friend! Her professionalism and personality is really infectious and she really does make you feel so very special.
I must compliment the Chef on an excellent dinner saturday night. The food was fantastic and I was offered extra veg as I don't eat potatoes. The lemon possett was to die for! We returned on Sunday afternoon after a trip into Brighton to have our afternoon tea as there was a wedding on during Saturday, but we didint mind and the afternoon tea was delicious! Thank goodness we didnt have lunch and had walked a fair distance before we arrived to sample a fantastic afternoon tea and to see Jenny again.
We will be back and thank you for providing such fantastic customer service. The gentleman at Breakfast was also very professional and very attentive and the buffet breakfast is of a very high standard and plenty of it! Jenny's daughter on reception remembered us too.
See you very soon and thank you for a very enjoyable weekend. Mark

A return visit on the occasion of my wife's' birthday, and another very pleasant stay. We booked - as before - upon receiving the winter break leaflet in the post. This was for Dinner, bed and breakfast with a complimentary bottle of prosecco.
We were made aware when booking that there would be a wedding taking place on our chosen date. We were allocated room 118 - which I note has been referred to in a previous review. This room, along with room 117, have an interconnecting door. I note from the comments of the previous reviewer that it could be possible to 'peep through' the keyhole, and that the reviewer did just that! Interesting that one would want to do that, but each to their own I guess, not quite sure the reviewers motive here? Still - I note that the keyhole has a cover over it.
Very similar to other rooms we have stayed in at this hotel - my only one gripe would be that the interconnecting door does mean you can hear the occupants of the other room - other rooms we have had in this hotel are very well insulated from noise.
As usual, the food was to a high standard, and it was nice again to be recognised and welcomed by Jenny in the restaurant. It is this attentiveness that sees us returning - a real credit to the hotel. With the majority of guests at the hotel attending the wedding, there were just three tables in use in the restaurant when we dined - nice, quiet and intimate!
We did not get disturbed at all by the wedding that was in progress, although the occupants of room 117 decided upon their return from the wedding to have a chat at 3am using some wonderful colorful metaphors! Still, judging from the way they spoke, I would not have classed them as overly intelligent, and courtesy to others may not be their priority.....
Due to the large onslaught of wedding guests expected for breakfast, there was a buffet laid on as opposed to breakfast being cooked upon request. This was no issue, and the food was all very nice, piping hot and a great selection for all tastes. We headed to the restaurant quite early, so it was very quiet.
So all in all another pleasant stay, and I really do not see the issue with the keyhole in room 118.
We are mindful that we were introduced to this hotel as part of a wedding party, so have the benefit of seeing both sides of the story when it comes to the individual guest/wedding guest debate!
I expect we will be back again in 2015.

Came to the Hickstead Hotel for afternoon tea. Food and service was excellent. One of the members of our party got lost as the sat nav sent her to the wrong location, and the waitress who was just going off duty offered to drive to her so that she could follow her back to the hotel. I was so impressed with this. Very friendly and helpful staff, thank you!
