Had a great stay. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. Refreshing to see so many younger people working there and how engaged they were in their work and with the guests. Food was delicious. Setting lovely. Room was too hot and the thermostat in the room had no effect. Handle fell off the shower. Front door to the annex we were staying in wouldn't shut so was banging in the wind all night. These were minor things though and did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay.

Our third stay at Bailiffscourt,(although we have eaten there on several occasions). The standard was extremely high. I can't understand the previous reviewer's comments. We were helped with our bags on arrival and all the staff from porters to managers were most helpful, friendly and polite. Our room was excellent with a most comfortable mattress and pillows. Everything was very clean. The only thing lacking for me was a full length mirror in the bedroom. The food was of a very high standard and the restaurant staff went out of their way to provide friendly and efficient service. We also enjoyed the swimming pool but didn't try any spa treatments.Sadly, the bad weather prevented us from enjoying the grounds this time so we just relaxed. This was our Ruby Wedding break and was so enjoyable from start to finish. We will definately return in the near future. Thanks to everyone.

We stayed in a lovely deluxe room in the main house, very old fashioned with wooden doors, open fireplace, leaded windows and a huge bed. However, strangely the wardrobe was situated in the bathroom, but thankfully our clothes did not get damp.
Really enjoyed the spa facilities-the steam room, sauna, indoor pool and hot tub were fantastic just a shame there was not enough room around the pool for everyone to relax.
The service and food in the Tapestry Restaurant were first class but one word of warning the food is not plain and may not be to everyone's taste.
The grounds are extensive and very well kept with lots of lovely snowdrops under the trees and in the flowerbeds.

We just spent two nights at Bailiffscourt. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles to the moment we left.
The service, rooms, food, wine were all 100%, I asked in advance for good service and that's what I got. It just could not have been better.
Sincere thanks to all the staff for making this special 60th birthday surprise for my wife and all my family a most memorable occasion. Even my daughter's little dog thought it was all brilliant.

The hotel is laid out in a series of converted (or new and made to look converted) farm-style outbuildings, which makes for a nice atmosphere of being in a littl village, rather than a big hotel. It makes for a sense of privacy in sizeable grounds and a very close beach, too. The hotel itself was on the old-fashioned end of luxury, but the rooms were very nice and spacious. We didn't have a working heating system, so had plug-in heaters instead, and I would have preferred carpet in January, but an unusually reliable wifi service and a phenomenal shower made up for that.

The restaurant was ok, with lovely mains and a good wine list. The desserts were a bit uninspiring, and overall we thought it was maybe £10/head (without wine) overpriced for what you got. The waiting staff weren't sufficiently well informed to put you at ease about asking for any little changes, having to go back to the kitchen to check if dessert could come without coulis, for example, so I felt very uncomfortable about doing so.

The spa was a bit disappointing. The pool was a good size, and lovely to have indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. But the floor of the pool was dirty, with piles of sand in the corners, and a bit on the cold side. There was not enough room around the pool for the size of hotel, really, so we couldn't relax by it at all. The changing rooms were a mess, with towels, plastic cups and other rubbish all over the place when we returned in the early evening. They also started closing parts of the spa about an hour and a half before it was advertised to close, so we felt we had to leave.

The was generally great, though, with front of house and waiting staff being very friendly and welcoming.

Overall, we had a nice relaxing weekend, but it's not a pace I would especially recommend.

A short note to say a big thank you to everyone for helping to make our family celebration weekend perfect.

This is the second year that we have had a family celebration at Bailiffscourt in January. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home and you were able to accommodate all of our needs. With a group of 10 adults, 5 young children and 3 dogs you coped extremely well.

Please pass on our particular thanks to your breakfast team who made sure that the children had everything that they needed. Especially as the resident Peacock decided to make an appearance at the skylight. Friday night (10 Jan) was particularly busy in the restaurant; however, you still managed to serve up an excellent meal if somewhat slower than usual.

It was a special weekend for the family and one we will not forget. We look forward to returning at some time in the future

OK - this place is not cheap. I spent for 1 night and only 2 treatments, over £500. But both my girlfriend and I like nice wine and I am not going to spend over £200 on a room for a night and not splurge elsewhere.
But from arrival (2.30pm Saturday) until departure (11.30am Sunday), there was not a moment of anything other than absolute calm.
Even when it was raining, I happily sat in the outdoor hot tub which was unique and cool.

The food was magnificent and dinner was a lovely, lazy experience spread over a number of different rooms which helped keep the calm.

Service was attentive and professional throughout. Perfect in fact.

The only little thing I would change relate to the room. The Modern Room was large, comfortable and provided a great nights sleep. However, the little things (rubbish kettle, awful selection of hot drinks - does anyone with means still drink nescafe?!) could do with improvement and the decor in the room would be described, politely, as eclectic - meaning nothing seemed to go!
Wireless was strong in some areas and useless in others, which, given that there was no phone signal anywhere on the site, made things a bit complicated for anyone wanting to use their phone.

However, I really can't wait to return again. Wish I had stayed longer.
