“Nice character and cracking breakfast!”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

Stylish, comfortable hotel - part country house, with some sympathetic recent additions. Good communal areas with wingback leather chairs. My single room was on the small side, but perfectly adequate. All very clean and in good working order. My bed was a bit soft for my liking and I had to open the windows to cool the room down overnight, resulting in some road noise in the morning. But the kippers with poached eggs at breakfast more than made up for this - sublime!

Had three nights and three rooms at the Hotel. First night very noisy room as below car park and large party repairing their bikes in the car park all night. We offered to cancel the rest of the booking but we were moved into the main building.

We are not sure if the move was punishment as the room was filthy, (see 'photos). I took copies of these and asked to see the manager. He was absolutely mortified and asked for copies to be e-mailed over to him and he moved us immediately. We were up-graded into a suite which was beautiful, corner bath, walk in shower soft seating and working area.

We wanted to give this hotel fair feedback hence the average rating as two out of the three rooms were poor. However its great to see that the manager Andrew did take action when shown the state of the room.

Breakfast on all three days was excellent

We stayed here for a wedding in Brighton. As the wedding was at 2, we requested an early check in when we booked, which we were told they couldn't guarantee which was understandable, so we phoned the night before we arrived and were told the same but when we arrived it was like they had no record of us asking and we had to wait as housekeeping were on a break. All in all the hold up meant we missed the wedding service which wasn't ideal.
The rooms themselves were good, big and clean with TV and coffee/tea making facilities. The shower was amazing, the best I've come across in a long time! we didnt eat here so cant comment.
The hotel was very good value for money and would recommend.

I've stayed here several times this year and it's normally good.
The food isn't the greatest ever although the service is good.
The rooms are clean.
If you book an early take away breakfast don't bank on getting any as the guy on the desk at 06.30 in the morning didn't have a clue that I'd ordered any. When you have diabetes and have taken insulin obtaining food is vital.
I won't be back!!!

Room Tip: Ask for the 300 rooms for a quiet one if you can manage the stairs.

Painless again, and friendly staff. The room was clean and had all the necessary. Above all, it was quiet! Breakfast was good, and the staff cheerful but unobtrusive. There's plenty of parking, and it's a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk out of town.

Room Tip: The top rooms at the far end of the hotel are quietest.

I have stayed several times for business. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful.
The rooms are spacious and adequate for business use.
The bathrooms are a little tired but well equipped with a fantastic supply of hot water.
Breakfast is delicious with plenty of choice.
Excellent value and worth a stay.
