This is a very popular venue. In summer you can sit outside in a variety of seating areas and walk over the nearby historic Stopham bridge now closed off to traffic. In winter you can sit inside in one of the cozy bar areas. Mine host and the staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. Well worth a visit.

We visited in January for my father's birthday meal. Sunday lunch. One roast beef, two roast lamb and one fairly dismal not roast, no vegetarian gravy available…
Staff friendly, good service, ultimately food a bit disappointing-price was reasonable. Does feel like they have packed far too many tables inside the pub. Ultimately-we won't be going back but probably worth a visit, bearing these points in mind.

This 14th century establishment is located on the banks of the river Arun, unfortunately over running on the occasion of our visit. However the siting is idealistic in the summer as it is adjacent to the 14th century bridge, not in use today. The restaurant has had a checked life but is pleasing to see that it is doing well now and may it long continue.
We were greeted with a warm and cheerful entrance by the owner and his staff, which continued with excellent service adding to a good atmosphere. The menu reflect the quality and high standard of Fayre provided. Look out for the Ale and Steak pie, slow cooked Beef rib and traditional Liver and Bacon (hearty appetites will be well rewarded)
Most enjoyable lunch with old friends on a wet and miserable day, excellent food, conversation and value for money. One to return too.

100% will be coming back....7 of us turned up 12:45 Sunday lunchtime with no reservation. Car Park rammed, its raining and super busy and frankly they could have just turned us away but they did not....there was a bit of jiggering and nudging to get us all in but we are so glad we stayed. A fine selection of local food, freshly prepared, the menu was well considered, not just the usual roast, but some interesting mains, and a veggie burger to die for! Massive quantities even for us hungry walkers and the service was impeccable. Special thanks to the owners who despite being packed to the rafters delivered an excellent guest experience too, very friendly, warm and totally charming.....we all said we would be back (and don't worry we will book next time!) this pub totally deserves its ratings

Found this pub a year ago by chance. Visit often when returning from WWT in Arundel.Opens all afternoon so great if you just want a drink. Food is always good with extensive menu. Very friendly staff and great service. What a location, right on the river. Try a Sunday lunch in the summer with live music.
