Friends took me and my 21 month old granddaughter here for a birthday lunch today. We had planned to eat outside because of the children but had to start off indoors because of the bad weather and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Two high chairs were instantly provided and once they had eaten the two toddlers in our party were delighted to find a box of toys stacked away in the corner. We adults all had the fish pie which was delicious - full of fish, creamy sauce, topped with mashed potato and lots of cheese and piping hot. After that we decided we were too full for deserts but the staff had been tipped off that it was a birthday celebration and bought out chocolate brownies and ice cream with a candle and a sparkler to have with our coffee.
There is a lovely homely atmosphere in the pub and I can't remember ever having had a nicer birthday lunch so many thanks to all the staff for making it so special.
