My husband and I were in Yelapa for a few nights in January. We walked by La Galeria several times in our walks into town and always admired it but it was always closed. On our walk back from dinner on our second to last night, the restaurant was open. We went in and chatted with the owners who told us they would be open the following night and said we needed reservations if we wanted to have dinner there. We made reservations for the best night and were excited to get to eat at such a beautiful location on our last nigth in Yelapa. Well, a few minutes before our reservation, we arrive at La Galeria, only to find out it was closed. We waited, thinking it must just be late opening and hoping they wouldn't take our reservation knowing that they weren't going to open. While we waited, one of the locals arrived, also hoping to have dinner at La Galeria. Being locals, they knew the owners and proceeded to call their names until they came to the door. The locals then asked if they were open that night and the owners said that they were no longer open on this particular day of the week and hadn't been in a few weeks! Up until this point, everyone that we met in Yelapa had been extremely nice and welcoming and we could not believe the lack of respect and complete rudeness that the owners of La Galeria had shown us. I'm sure their food is good, and their restaurant is beautiful, but I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to be treated with respect when they dine at an establishemnt.
