Thanks Andrew and staff for making the triple 60th birthday party for Bob, Mike and Irene the great success that it was! The food was delicious, the service A1 and facilities impeccable. Thank you for your personalized service, can't wait to come back. Best wishes for the new year.

Room Tip: Don't go past The Playhouse.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel, well furnished, well run and excellent value. The room I stayed in was simple but oh so comfortable. The free wifi was much appreciated I wish our city motels could match this. The highlight however was the breakfast, I had the best poached eggs and coffee ever and some of the best breakfast conversation in a long while.

Not sure what it is that makes The Playhouse Hotel so special? Could be the location in the Main Street of peaceful Barraba. Could be the delicious home cooked food, the comfy, bright and clean rooms, the unique building and artistic touches? I think it is mostly the warm welcome and personalised service that Andrew and Haddon offer their guests. You quickly feel like a friend. We were a conference of 20 people and the Playhouse provided a perfect setting for our two day workshop. We particularly enjoyed dining in the courtyard. Highly recommended. Don't miss it if you are up that way!

Barraba is a really attractive town, lined by beautiful Plane trees and nice wide streets. Typical of a small country town, very small, but clean and the people really friendly, always acknowledged us as we walked by. The Playhouse seems to a bit of a centre point for the town and was recommended to us as the place to say in that particular part of the state. The rooms are very comfortable with a very modern ensuite and all amenities available in the room for a cup of tea etc. Its that old fashioned hospitality which was enhanced by the owners Haddon and Andrew. We felt very at home here. The restaurant was really good with the food first class, lots of homemade but professional touches. The restaurant was very busy the night we were there, mainly locals in the "know" about the quality of the food, wine and service. An establishment like this is not usually available in the small towns so we were very thrilled with our stay here. Well done Haddon and Andrew to develop this hotel as they have.

We stayed at the Playhouse in September 2013. This was a return visit to sample again the ambience of this jewel of accommodation. The hotel has a small theatre and during our stay we sat through a movie. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable with all the little things that go with a good hotel, teas, coffees with nice cups and saucers, radio and a beautifully renovated bathroom. Main meals are prepared from a good menu selection of food and wine. Breakfast has all the trimmings complete with starched napkins, papers and great service.
The hotel is tastefully decorated, airy with exhibitions of paintings throughout and a welcoming staff with Andrew at the head.
We would very much recommend a stay for the enjoyable experience and to remind yourself that here in very rural Aust. there is a high quality accommodation for travellers from an owner who cares about maintaining high standards.

Room Tip: Upstairs looking out to the road

Our experience at the Barraba Playhouse Hotel was absolutely fantastic. What a surprise to find a theatre, restaurant, art exhibition and a "cool" room in Barraba NSW. Our host was excellent. Dinner was just right and the "rose" flavoured ice cream (to die for). All followed up with Ballet in the theatre - I kid you not!!!!!!!! You guys have done a great job with the place and we'll be coming back - perhaps for a musical next time, or the opera!!!

We were on motorbikes and we had secure parking on site as well.

Room Tip: Our one and our friends room were both roomy, fresh and comfortable. One was on the highway side wi...

my family owned this hotel in the late 60' to early 70's (then the conservatively Central Hotel) and our family had a little "return to the scene" weekend in later September. if you're looking for a picturesque drive, concluding and enjoying some old fashion country fun, hospitality and great food and wines, Please dont drive by The Playhouse at Barraba. your hosts Andrew and Heydon are the epitome of HOST. talk about about being made to feel welcome! love to chat, tell you about what the town latest gossip is as well as bloody council tree plans with Tamworth Regional Council. Thanks guys. you made our stay so special. The Playhouse rocks!!
