We stayed here for the weekend after I found it on the Groupon site!
Unknowingly it was also the weekend that NSW had a cold snap, except for the fire not continually restocking itself and staying warm when we returned, my husband and I had an awesome stay
One our little possum hideaway was nice and warm, it was brilliant.
Love to stay again here in the future, far enough away from the other huts.
We ate out for dinner at a local Thai restaurant that had the brochure for in the room, and the second night we picked up a pizza from from the main road and enjoyed it with a red by the fire.
The Evans lookout is at the end of the road and has spectacular views
We took the hour plus drive to Jenolan Caves and spent the day there....awesome
Day 2 we headed home, enjoying the sights of Katoomba along the way

We stayed in one of the family cabins. They are spacious, light and well maintained. The family sized table and cooking facilities were good.
The grounds are lovely and there is plenty to do on rainy day.
The manager greeted us at reception and answered our questions. There was a good selection of books and dvds.
There are plenty of good walks around here. Evans Head lookout is spectacular.
We would definitely come back.

Room Tip: We have stayed here twice in two different cabins and they were both excellent.

We have had a few stays at Federation Gardens with our family and it is always a relaxing time. The grounds are beautiful and the pool always the right temp for a swim. We love it in the winter and have the fire on and in the summer it is a great place for a few days away. A great spot for larger groups too. We will keep coming back!

Room Tip: The cottage is perfect for two families.

We stayed in one of the wooden cabins on stilts. It was still quite cold at night so the log burning stove really heated the cabin up and made it very cosy. Although it looked like a rustic cabin - the bathroom with a spa bath looked like something more at home in a luxury hotel and it was really well equipped. It was this combination of rustic & luxury that made Possums Hideaway so brilliant. Fabulous setting in the wood. The only disappointment was no possums visited us!

Our family - 4 adults & 2 pre-schoolers- had the Laurel Lodges and it was perfect. Plenty of room, comfy beds, very adequate kitchen and a lovely cosy fire. Lots of grounds for the children to run around and a big verandah to lounge on. The heated indoor pool - 27c was enjoyed by us all. Nice cafes a few minutes drive away in downtown Blackheath and the golf club bistro very close by.

Julie & Neil were great host and gave us the info to go to Pulpit Rock, Blackheath, drive was a little bit of a rocky road to get there, then about a 15 min walk. the best views overlooking Govetts Gorge, This is the first time my husband and I have stay in Possums Hideaway and loved it, so peaceful, loved the view of the forest from our window, loved the log fire and feeding the possum and we also played tennis again (brought our own rackets). We have stayed several times in the Federation Cabin with all the family and our kids always loved it with the tennis court, pool etc, they always found something to do. Best to get one of the cabins that looks onto the tennis court & entertainment area. For couples the Escarpment in Blackheath is a romantic restaurant, BYO on certain days but you will need to book, you can Google the menu. Federation Gardens & Possums Hideaway is such a great place, will be back again!!!!! Susanne & Paul from Bondi
