Diner 129
Earlier this year friends and myself had a very negative experience at this restaurant. Since then the management team has changed and I received an e-mail from the new management stating this and asking us to try the restaurant again. I advised them of the contact details of the lady who had organised the previous evening and the disappointment she had experienced. The new management contacted her and offered a complimentary meal to her and her husband. On 18th Nov a group of 8 people went along and had a very enjoyable value for money meal. The manageress was very attentive not just to us but also to the other customers as the restaurant was quite full. The service was relaxed and prompt and the meal very good value.
It is obvious that the new management has greatly improved this restaurant and we will certainly return in the future.

Went to a Christmas in July lunch, very disappointed with the meal. The soup for starters was quite nice, so we were looking forward to the mains. This is where it goes down hill, a large mound of mashed potato with dried and a sorry excuse for turkey plonked on top, the meal was luke warm. Roasted vegtables were served seperately, but alas were greasy and only just warm. Still there is always desert to save the day!
Unfortunately the so called plum pudding with pretend custard was unedible due to the extreme amount of nutmeg that was dusted on the entire desert. We had a Christmas in July lunch here previously, the whole meal was delicious and the service was very good. Unfortunatley after our latest experience we will not be back any time soon.

Facilities and ambiance fabulous but attention to cleanliness poor. Beds old and uncomfortable, cabins dusty and unclean, restaurant seating BBQ tables which get rather hard when dining. Staff wonderful and friendly but the resort needs serious updating especially having pit toilets (long drop) in cabins. Log fires inefficient and too old leaving cabins freezing. Booked for 12 days and left after one night. No mobile coverage as well on Next G. TV sets a museum pieces.

Room Tip: Don't stay

Negative Experience
Attended a function at the Jemby Rinjah Eco Lodge, which had been booked and completely paid for months in advance. Management rang the day before the function and said they had changed the previously agreed menu.
On the night the Maitre d' was rude, aggressive and treated guests as pests rather than customers who were funding their establishment. As for the food, there was not enough to go around the group of 26 people. At 10:30 pm guests were told to leave by the Maitre d' as he wanted to close up. This was reinforced by him switching off the coffee machine, clearing away glasses, some of which were still in use. He then produced a vacuum cleaner and commenced cleaning around the area where people were sitting talking around the unlit fire. When guests objected he again became rude and obnoxious telling them to leave immediately!

The Maitre d' of this establishment could certainly teach Basil Fawlty a few lessons in rudeness!

When the following day the above issues were brought to the attention of management the response was luke warm to say the least.
This establishment may be fine for a dinner for two or an overnight stay but
I nor the other guests who attended would certainly never recommend this venue for a function catering for a large group of people.

Furthermore the management needs to make themselves aware of the first rule of the hospitality industry.
“ Customers are the most important persons for a business. They are not an interruption to our work but the purpose for it. We are not doing them a favour, they are doing us a favour by supporting our business and giving us an opportunity to serve them.”

A negative experience, will never return to this establishment.

We stayed at Jemby-Rinjah for 3 nights over New Year.
The location is wonderfully situated in the forest with Evans Lookout onto the Blue Mountains less than a 5 minute walk away, as well as several walking tracks on your doorstep. Plus tourist attractions such as the small town of Katoomba (home of the Three Sisters), Scenic World (with cable car etc down into the rainforest) and many lookouts with walking routes all within a short drive away! Even with all this nearby, you still feel a million miles away from anywhere in the secluded setting.
Cabins are clean, comfortable and well equipped for a self catering holiday. The self composting toilet was surprisingly smell-free and wasn’t an issue at all, it was just weird not needing to flush!!! There is a laundry onsite, as well as a communal barbecue area. My only negative regarding the facilities was the lack of a CD player in the cabins (there is a DVD player with DVD’s on reception) but we prefer to have background music whilst dining.
We ate in the restaurant on one of the evenings and had a lovely time, food was good and plentiful and there was also live music that night which added to the relaxed atmosphere. We also enjoyed being able to have a drink of an afternoon after a busy day out walking – there is no actual bar but they are more than happy to serve drinks for you to enjoy on the terrace (whilst the reception or restaurant is open). Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We would recommend Jemby-Rinjah to anyone wanting a more unique, secluded and relaxing experience in the Blue Mountains that is different to the usual hotel option.

Our family (2 adults, 2 kids age 11 and 8) spent 5 nights at the eco lodge. The lodge has a lot going for it: We loved the location; although it doesn't have a view (other than a view of tangled trees and bush), it's just a quarter-mile from Evan's Lookout, which branches off to several great trails, and is close to the towns of Blackheath and Katoomba. We also liked how remote yet cozy it is -- we really felt as though we experienced a retreat of life in a forest. Our two-bedroom cabin was comfortable (though buggy -- bring bug spray and be prepared for a few roaches here and there), and I got used to the "roto-loo" pit toilet. One drawback, however, is that it doesn't have cell phone coverage and no wi-fi, though the manager allowed us to plug into their Internet connection for a fee when we needed to work. For some guests this is probably not a problem -- it's an eco lodge, after all -- but I wish we had been prepared for the lack of Internet connection and phone coverage, since we needed to work during our time there. We found the staff in the reception professional but not terribly friendly. We did, however, meet one nice manager who was in charge of feeding the parrots. Speaking of which, the parrots are fantastic, and it's a real treat to feed them. Overall, I'd recommend this place, but only for a night or two, not as long as we stayed.
