“Good location but dated facilities”
Reviewed 28 January 2014

We checked in during Australian Day holiday.
the location is good, as said in other reviews - off the main road and quiet.
the facilities are quite dated: we arrived on a foggy Sat. even it is in the middle of summer, the outside temperature was 13 degrees in the afternoon - freezing cold like winter! In the room, we checked out the air condition - it had no reaction when we push the 'on' button on the remote (at least a green light or something??). we spoke to the reception lady, she said the a/c did not react immediately, leave it for 5mins and it would warm up the room. ok then, we went back to the room and tried again - but the a/c has no reaction at all (as if it was dead)...we went back to the reception and complaint, the lady repeated the same thing, she just did not intend to check it out for us. We said no more, just didnt want to look stupid as if we had never seen an a.c. we left the a.c. on and left the room for a walk. when we came back after the walk, the room was still cold.... so we came down to the reception again (the phone in the room did not work). this time, the lady sent out Peter to check the a.c for us. Peter was extremely friendly, he checked everything - the a.c did not work! we were then moved to another room. this time the a.c. worked - a green light indicated it worked and room was heated up quickly!

however, we realised the a.c. made too much noise during the night. my husband watched tennis till late; i was so tired and fell into sleep quickly. a few times i was half asleep, i heard loud noise, i thought it was a construction site outside (seriously no kidding). i even thought; the workers started working so early ha.. totally forgot Monday was a public holiday!. when i fully woke up, my husband complained about the loud noise the a.c. made, i told him i thought it was the construction site.. he just laughed at me hahaha - silly woman!

anyway, we went there because we could not get anywhere else - all fully booked during the long weekend. mmm, it was the first time and also the last time.

I have been going to Redleaf on and off since the late 1960s. I really have to say that it is a shadow of its former self. It is now really just an average motel. The complex is in need of some TLC, although the rooms themselves have been touched up a bit. The bathrooms could certainly use a bit of work to renovate them, as they are very dated now. We were there in the middle of summer, so did not really take any notice of the heating in the bathroom - certainly not required while we were there.

The manager and staff were all very friendly and welcoming (the current manager has only been at the property for the last 18 months or so)

Redleaf is, however, a great place to stay for exploration of the Upper Blue Mountains. It is located some distance off the main road, so there is no traffic or railway noise. It is not in the middle of town, which might be a plus or a minus, depending on your needs - if you have a car, it is only a couple of minutes into town. Prices are good, so from a value for money point of view, it is not a bad place to stay. Just don't expect a "resort".

My family and I have now stayed at the Redleaf Resort both times we have come to the Blue Mountains. The Resort is quiet and off the main road which we love and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We found the staff to be very welcoming and friendly and happy to help.
The enclosed heated pool is a treat and the games room was a hit with the kids.
We had dinner at the restaurant and found the food to be amazing. The food portions were huge and cooked to perfection and the dessert was a must.
Very happy and will stay there again. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If going with 2+ children, it may be better to get a bigger room just for the size factor.

Off the main road and immediately opposite the Blackheath Golf course the location is very good. While it is called a resort and offers a swimming pool, sauna, tennis court and games room, Redleaf Resort feels like a standard hotel motel. Our room was very clean and spacious enough but lacking anything that would give it a lift. In particular, on a very cold morning shaving in a small bathroom which had no form of heating whatsoever was not enjoyable.
Good enough to use as a base if you have lots of activities in mind such as walking, hiking, golf or exploring the mountains.

Room Tip: Skip breakfast as the many cafes in Blackheath offer much better quality and value.

Thank you for your review. With our quiet and central location we are the ideal stay for bushwalkers and families. We do have a large buffet breakfast available and if this is prebooked as a bed and breakfast package there is a considerable saving to be had. We look forward to welcoming you back.

Lovely place to stay unfortunately we went in freezing cold weather. Too Cold. Room took a LONG time to warm up but once it did it was comfortable throughout the night.
Heated pool had cold areas which caused physical discomfort as did the heating not reaching the bathroom. Extremely clean rooms and surrounds. Superb food BOTH dinner and breakfast. Old building and again heating in common lounge room wasn't on when we inspected etc - but again spotlessly clean and owners were extremely hospitable. A little over-priced compared to motels such as those I have stayed in around even northern Sydney suburbs. No mini bar as such and only MINIMAL supplies of milk tea and coffee. No extra toilet paper was in bathroom.

This was admittedly July 2006, but it was a warm and very friendly place to stay. The room was generously sized, centrally heated and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They had a buffet breakfast, I think was part of the price. But it's located a short distance away from the main road. Ideal for weekends away or a base during the blue mountains 'yulefest'. Blackheath being the highest point in the area also has the best chance of snow in winter.

Thank you for your review. Our "off the main road" location ensures a quiet and comfortable stay for our guests - great for families with children. Yes, we get SNOW. Last year a number of dumps during the winter and our guests had a great time having snow fights and making snowmen. We look forward to welcoming you back.

Just had a lovely weekend with husband and 3 kids in the Blue Mountains. Stayed in the Family room 108 at Redleaf and was just perfect. The owners were so friendly with the kids too. The games room and heated indoor pool was just perfect.... even the tennis court was popular with our family.
We found the room & furniture very clean and will definitely be back !!!

Room Tip: We had Room 108. One room with a double bed, the other room with 3 singles all connected, just perf...

Thank you for your review. The Redleaf is an ideal venue for families and the suite that you had gives you all plenty of space to relax. With the pool, tennis court, games room and extensive grounds the children have plenty to do, while the parents can chill out. We had a number of days with heavy snow last year and the visiting children had a great time making snowmen and having snowball fights. Keep an eye on the weather!! Hopefully we can entice you up again during winter.
