Working around the district and have stayed elsewhere when these guys were booked out. Don't bother anywhere else as this place is the best. Motel is excellent but they now have new ensuite pub rooms that are excellent newly renovated clean rooms. Great beds and pillows big showers good water pressure with plenty of hot water. These hotel rooms are great value. The pub meals are also very good not fancy but it's all good pub meals. Don't forget to order some sandwiches for lunch. Good roast meat and salad sandwiches packed for lunches great value.
The Kandos hotel / motel great place to stay.

A clean, tidy, modern motel. Parking out the front of your room and very reasonably priced. Close enough to the hotel to enjoy all the activity of a traditional country pub/hotel but separate enough not to be disturbed if the pub is partying till late.

Very pleasantly surprised by the standard of the rooms given the price. Big, clean, comfortable.
Pub next door, run by the same people, makes dining very convenient. Free breakfast available. Would highly recommend this motel and I will definitely be staying here again.

It's hard to see what else you could need from a country motel.

The motel is next to the Kandos Hotel, but it is separate. Quite new rooms with a separate reception and entrance.

Friendly owners. Car parking next to the room. Room immaculately clean. Good choice of TV stations including some satellite channels with good reception on nice sized flat screen TV. Hot shower with a good flow. No evidence of any cracked tiles, mould or stains. Looks like the owners really care about the presentation of their rooms. Free cornflakes and toast, and all meals available in the pub next store.

Don't stay here for the character, antiques or old fashioned charm. Stay for a clean friendly place for a night on the road, or a couple of nights to explore the surrounding area.

This is somewhat a three-in-one review, as I feel the township of Kandos, the Kandos Hotel and the Kandos Motel cannot be easily separated.

My father has always spoken of Kandos, saying how beautiful it is and how friendly the people are. So of course I had always wanted to go. In the 25-odd years between his visits and mine some of the hussle and bussle may have disappeared from this town (due to the cement factory closing) but book in at the very reasonably priced motel and you'll be in for a treat. At first it appeared that the town was empty, very quiet and tranquil with the mountains looming above, but apon entering the Kandos Hotel (next to & part of the Kandos Motel) there were a handful of friendly locals enjoying a beverage and the footy on the TV. The meal at the hotel was as mum would cook, a generous plate of food no matter what you chose from the menu. And very reasonably priced, usually around the $15 to $20 mark.

The accommodation at the Kandos Hotel was clean and tidy, as it's only fairly new...with very spacious rooms for a motel. We stayed on the Easter Long Weekend, and the room was still only $100 for two people...whereas any other town within 500kms could only get as low as $140 for a lower quality room.

It's quite a shame that the Castlereagh Highway cuts out Rylstone and Kandos...as they are DEFINITELY worth seeing. DEFINITELY turn off and take this slight detour, and you won't be disappointed!
