Our family stayed in a spacious and clean family room. There were two separate sleeping areas, one with a Queen bed, and a single bed and the other with two single beds. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were a bit low. There was a table and chairs in the room with the two single beds and there was plenty of space for luggage. The window at the back of the motel unit looked over a paddock with sheep in. The motel was very good value .We stayed here the night of Carols at Jenolan Caves, a very enjoyable and worthwhile event with proceeds going to charity. You can also do tours of the caves which is a fascinating experience.

Room Tip: Family rooms are very spacious

We stayed here over the weekend before heading off to Mayfair Gardens on the sunday. We got the last room available, which happened to be a spa room. It was HUGE, two bedrooms with two queen size beds and a single. It was fresh and clean and the people running the place were very nice and helpfull, they could not do enough for us. When I had booked the room I also booked a table in the restaurant on the night, upon arrival I enquired into the booking but was told it did not exist, when I saw the tour bus in the carpark I thought we may have missed out, but they set a table up for us, so all was good.
With the restaurant it is chinese, menu very basic as you would expect in a country town, but still very good. All up a nice trip.
The next morning instead of eating breakfast at the hotel we opted for a cafe in the main street called Cafe Savana, the breakfast and service here was superb, Highly recommended

Room Tip: Ask for a room down the back of the hotel away fom and noise on the main road and looks over a tranq...

Stayed 2 nights in a room with 1 queen & 1 single - v big room with big window overlooking paddock ; v nice with the snow covered fields! Has oil heater in room; it was v warm & toasty!
A 10-15 walk into town which makes a lovely walk. Has an on site Chinese restaurant which was good, cafe opposite motel which is kid friendly!
Every motel in Oberon is v expensive; for a 3 star motel, there is not much to choose from, at least this place is clean & room big & warm.

We have stayed at this motel a number of times. Bed is comfortable, room is large with table and chairs, and one easy (if a little tired) armchair. Room is heated and there is an electric blanket on the bed. If you should be too warm, then the window can be opened. Bathroom a good size - one (and only one) complaint is the thin small towels which desperately need to be replaced. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and the Chinese Restaurant attached has consistently good food. Will continue to stay at the Big Trout on our trips to Oberon.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

Stayed there on the Queens long weekend on the Saturday night. Other hotels said two night minimum. Just wanted to stay there one night so we could spend all day at Jenolan Caves refreshed. They gave us the family room at the rear of the hotel which overlooked the rolling hills of Oberon. There were two rooms, one at the rear which had a queen and a single bed with a large lcd tv on the wall. As you walk in there was a kitchenette,a dining table then two single beds with another lcd tv on the wall. These rooms had oil heaters which were on all the time and the beds all had electric blankets. The bathroom was quite large as well and had everything you needed. As my two sons had the front room they could watch tv or use the FREE INTERNET on their laptop to plan their Jenolan activities or skype their friends about what they were up to. We had the peace and quiet of the spacious parents room at the back. It got down to -4 degrees when we stayed and we were warm all night. Best night sleep I've hade in a long time. The service was excellent and there is a chinese/australian restaurant on the premises. Again the waiters/cooks were lovely and I would recommend you try it. There is a fridge in the room with beer, spirits ,soft drinks etc also chips/peanuts (very expensive) and tea or coffee satchets with tiny cups. As there is no cooking facilities there I would recommend eating out at the hotels restaurant or there is some nice cafes and bakeries in town. There are a few stores just down the road to do your shopping or see some historical buildings. As others have said I would book ahead because it didn't take long to fill up. I cannot recommend this place highly enough as I could of stayed in the room the whole weekend just looking at the view and my tv.

We were lucky enough to get the last room available in this motel. The room was clean and very quiet in the back section of the motel. We found the bed just a bit too firm and the room was heated from a central control in the motel, there was no airconditioning and no individual control over the temperature of the room. However, it was warm enough for us with the oil heaters.

The room had a spa which unfortunately wasn't working (and hadn't been for a long time) and we were given a discount off the normal spa room price. However, the spa was enclosed in a glass surround which made getting into the shower very awkward. There was no separate shower. We would not take the spa room again because of this problem.

The meals were very nice in the motel restaurant and this is great when you don't want to have to go out elsewhere for dining. We thought that the breakfast was a bit pricey at $20 each plus an additional $3 for full breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We didn't realise that Oberon could get so busy and that all accommodation would be booked out so make sure that you book before going. We took the Goulburn to Oberon road via Taralga and really enjoyed the drive - tarred road all the way.

Although there isn't a great deal to do in the town of Oberon, there are a few things in the surrounding area so check out the tourist information centre for attractions such as trout fishing and gem fossicking and mushroom picking. We made a circuit trip and went on to Bathurst, Carcoar and Cowra. We were going to stay in Cowra but all motels were booked out due to weddings (as in Oberon) and school holidays and finally decided to stay in Goulburn.

Room Tip: Rooms on the eastern side get the morning sun. Most rooms would have a rural outlook. Choose a roo...

We stayed for two nights and found this accommodation very suitable. It was clean, warm, and not too noisy despite being on the main street of Oberon (albeit away from the main shopping strip) and despite being school holidays with several families staying there also.
There was some plumbing noise a few times but it didn't bother us when we were trying to sleep. The bed and pillows were comfortable so over all we had a very restful getaway.
