My friend and I were travelling near Oberon early last week & decided, as we had been driving all day to stop over & call it a night.
As we entered the royal pub we noticed the surrounding open wood fires blazing with warmth as (it was extremely cold) we were greeted with a friendly welcome from the bar staff. We enquired abt accommodation and the publican who helped us Scott) was more than accommodating. After lugging our bags in & checking in Scott guided us through to the dining room handed over menus and directed where to place our orders. Scott had also mentioned us of a new head chef who had only just arrived that day so we were eager to trial the food. After a long day travelling we were particularly hungry. The menu had good variety and a also fairly cheap. We both ordered T-Bone medium rare and Medium I order with veg and mash and my friend had salad and chips. I was not expecting anything special being a pub but what a surprise. The T-Bone was cooked to perfection & so tender which is far better than most sydney pubs &restaurants these days& half the price. Great job to the chef and thanks for making us feel welcome Scott we may visit in the slightly warmer months next time. Ha ha
