Had beef & mushy pea pie and steak sandwich for lunch...
Pie was in a small ramekin with mash and rocket with chopped tomatoes and a drizzle of balsamic....typical pub style food...
Pie was $22 ...way overpriced for a small container not even the size of a standard pie...shame on you charging 22 bucks for a meal worth no more than $10 retail...
When will pub chefs learn to stop gouging when they think that they are creating some creative dish like a pie in a ramekin....chips on my partners steak sandwich were soggy....come on the owner of the Royal get with it.....soon you will have to change your attitude when the Orient gets converted to PJ GALLAGHERS ....and gives you some competition.....your bistro had 6 people for lunch ..while all the cafes in the street were overflowing....you'll get you just desserts....change now or you will be working in the kitchen...mopping the floor ...cause you no nothing about food service

Do not eat here, the food is horrible and it wasn't just my meal. All 13 people at my table had horrible meals most of them could not be eaten. What a shame and a total waste of money. How on earth you can get potato bake and steak wrong is unbelievable. The chips in the kids meal were still frozen. 2 of our guests actually got sick.

Your review are from people who perhaps stayed in the hotel and were expecting 5 star. They are unfair and are based on days prior to the hotel renervations and room upgrades. I stay here on regular basis and yes, I do know the staff who have made me and my group welcome on every occaision. My group are very happy with our accommodation as all room have been renorvated. We have never found it dirty in all the years we have been visiting Springwood and as all ready said the management and staff go out of their way to ensure we have an enjoyable stay.

Stayed here at a last resort with other family members. Musty, dirty, and smelly. Stayed in winter and the heating was inadequate. Cramped rooms. The train station is across the road and the noise (including the commentary over the PA) was deafening. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

Although the renovations are finished, the rooms have not been touched, A couple of the rooms are quite nice, whilst the others are very run down.
The public bar is a very unusual design, unfortunatly do the the poor design you are often left waiting for service whilst the staff are tending to other parts of the bar, or simply hanging around in an area where they can not be seen, Over the past weekend I witnessed two people trying to book accommodation wait for over 30 minutes for the supervisor to appear and assist them with thier booking, during this time, one of the customers went for a walk around town to see if there were any alternate options for them.
The place is modern looking, and has facilities such as T A B, Keno and Poker Machines. Unfortunatly whilst I was there it did not have essentials such as toilet paper.
Over all a pleasant pub to have a drink in, and most of the staff are friendly enough.
