“Really nice Indian food in the Mountains”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2012

While this restaurant is not really at takeaway prices, it is good quality, good-tasting Indian, a nice restaurant for a dinner out or family events and very welcome in the rather non-ethnic style of restaurants of the area.

“Super slow delivery but food OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2012

We ordered home delivery to our B & B and were told 25 minutes. An hour later it hadn't turned up so we phoned back to be told they were busy and that it would be around 10 minutes. We asked them to phone on arrival as we were in a back suite which was difficult to access. Hearing some noise outside we went out to find the people in the next suite with a bag of take away. It was ours but the driver had simply given it to them and left. Soon after we started eating our phone started ringing. We ignored it and were going to ring back after we had eaten dinner as it was the restaurant's mistake after all when someone turned up banging on our door demanding payment. We told him what had happened and he challenged our story saying that it was not true and he was nere to get the money as we had refused to pay the driver. Whatever! It is not like we will be back! Food was OK - butter chicken and Ceylon lamb (which was nice and spicy) - rice was just plain not yellow like we usually have with Indian but overall not too bad.

“Abominable”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2012

If you like good quality Inidan food, avoid this restaurant like the plague. We ordered takeaway a while back and one of the dishes was not one we had ordered. The food was acceptable but only just. But we though we would give them another go. This time the food was awful - tasteless slop. The prawns were clearly from a packet, and undercooked, the rice was also undercooked, the sauces were bland and uninspiring. And it was relatively expensive for takeaway food in the Blue Mountains. Later our bellies were telling us we'd done the wrong thing. Why didn't we just have organic lamb and some non-starch veg at home? Live and learn. Never again.

“Improved out of this world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

We dined here about 18 months previously and frankly were quite disappointed. At that time the service was ordinary and the food average. You can imagine how pleasantly surprised we were when we returned recently to find quite a different outcome. So different in fact that we have recommended the Blue Elephant to friends and family. The food was great and pleasing to the palate of even very fussy teenagers. The service was significantly improved, with a very polite and well mannered older gentleman serving us. He was extremely helpful and organized a milder version of one of the dishes to me made for the kids. The samosas were to die for and at the end of dinner not a morsel of the meal was left uneaten. We have been back since with similar good reports. Highly recommend - particularly for those who may not have eaten here for a year or so.
