“Fantastic Food, Wine and Great Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

We had a seven course degustation menu with matching wines. We let the chef choose each course option, and were not disappointed. A great gourmet experience. Staff were very cheerful and helpful. This was the highlight of our weekend escape. Making the reservation was easy, but suggest that you plan at least two weeks in advance for a Saturday night.

“The meal of a lifetime”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

That was the best I've ever had. I could stop there and I guess most you won't read any more of it but for those of you who want to know why, here it goes:

Everything was perfect, every 7 courses of it. Some of them like the squid ink gnocchi were WAY out of my comfort zone and I was positive I would hate it. I still ended up scraping the plate with my fork to taste every last bit of it.
You know these restaurants were they have like 7-8 spices and herbs by courses so it ends up like a big mess? Well the nineteen23 is the complete opposite. It's some very clean and delicious cuisine and you don't feel like they are overdoing it in anyway.
The service was amazing in every way too. Discreet yet attentive, funny yet respectful. They even brought an extra cake to my partner since it was his birthday.
The setting is really extra nice too! Classy but not snobby with vegetation and quietness all around.

The only negative thing I can say about this restaurant is the dreadful feeling you get when you leave. The tears that (literally in my case) well up in your eyes because you will never ever taste anything just as good as their pumpkin bread. That everything will be dull and bland compared to their trout gravlax. That no matter how hard you try, you will never be able to cook lamb as perfectly as they do.

“Very good degustation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

We had a 7-course degustation meal - mine with matched wines - and enjoyed the views and food both.

The food was chef's choice from the menu on the web. Food content and presentation were both very good and the service was really ***** excellent .

We both enjoyed it very much but also both said that we'd not automatically return soon if the region had other good choices available.

“Good...but”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

The restaurant is located in a quiet setting away from the centre of Wentworth Falls and has wonderful views across the valley toward Sydney. Being an old house it has a lovely feel about it. The menu is a degustation menu which can be five or seven courses, we opted for the seven courses with one of us having the matching wines. You are presented with a menu that has all the courses on it, but, for half the courses the word the"or" is between the choices, however you do not get to pick, the chef does. This was one of our grips as our meal ended up with all the seafood choices and none of the meat courses.

Each course is served as a shared plate. With the smears, blobs, and drizzles, so common with this style of food, half of what little sauce or garnish that came remained on the shared plate. We would have preferred for us each to get our own plate, so as to enjoy the fine presentation.

The wine selection was very good, with local wines being showcased. There was a wine for each course including two desert wines. This was extremely good value.

The staff are friendly and knowledgable about the food.

Be aware that an email is sent by the auto booking system a day or so before your booking asking you to cancel or confirm, I don't know what happens if you mis the email and fail to confirm. It took us a couple of goes to get a booking here as the restaurant is often booked out.
