“Good pies but needs some work”

Conditorei Patisserie Schwarz

We were there at peak hour and their was a long wait. The store layout was disorganised and needs a refurb for the amount of traffic it gets. We had a steak and mushroom pie and a potato and beef pie which were excellent. We had a sausage roll which was below par. The breads and cakes look great. Overall it was good but stay away from the sausage roll.

We brought my Aunt and Uncle to the Blue Mountains for the day as they lived there many years ago and told them we would take them anywhere they wanted for lunch. They chose the Schwarz bakery, somewhere they regularly visited all those years ago. We had pies, sandwiches and delicious cakes and pastries and the meals were faultless. The constant flow of customers were a testament to how fantastic this bakery is. Definitely worth a visit.

I often grab a coffee and a pretzel from Schwarzs. I have found that if you pick the right menu items, you will enjoy your visit, if not you will walk away dissappointed.
Here is my opinion; coffee great, cakes dry, pretzels addictively good, sandwiches boring, bread fantastic, tarts yummy, pies average, hot cross buns awesome.
The atmosphere is ok. It is kind of old-worldy, in that it feels like you have travelled back to a 60s coffee shop (not in a "retro" kind of way). The staff can seem unfriendly, but it is mainly because they are usually so busy.
My suggestion; go and have lunch at one of the other Wentworth Falls cafes and then drop into Schwarz's to buy up some scrummy freshly baked breads. I would recommend the pumpkin bread or the cumin.
Don't forget, no eftpos facilities (which is a little annoying)

The staff here are very unfriendly. We made no mention of ordering take away and when we went to sit down we were given take away cups and an annoyed look for sitting down. Amongst the locals this place has a reputation for good food & poor service. Our visit held up to this reputation. We won't be visiting here again, the food is not that exceptional to put up with this service.

We have been buying their delicious chicken pies for years. If you want a family sized pie it must be ordered the day before but it's worth every cent. The cherry crumble and jam doughnuts are stupendous. Cab be difficult to get a table but we buy to take home anyway.
