Owner description: The Cape Bruny Lighthouse is the most iconic landmark on Bruny Island. Nestled on the cliff tops in the South Bruny National Park, at the southern top of Bruny Island. Built from 1836 she sits proud, overlooking the craggy coastlines of Southern Tasmania. This is the southernmost lighthouse tour in Australia. The tours operate daily November to April and 3 to 4 days a week through the winter months. For just $10 you will hear stories of shipwrecks, convicts and lighthouse keepers. Learn how the lighthouse was built and experience the wild ocean and sea cliff views from above.

The lighthouse is at the end of a unsealed road. The road is usually in good condition, we've been there twice in the last couple of months and it was good both times. There's a small museum, toilets and a picnic area at the end.
A short walk up the hill to the lighthouse, but if you can't manage that you do get that "stunning view" of the lighthouse and the rugged coast line from the car park.
A wonderful day out to show your visitors or just take a picnic and enjoy the peace and quiet and wonderful scenery.

A wonderful landmark and piece of history. The lighthouse has a great history that is presented at a little museum near the carpark. No longer in operation the lighthouse is not open to climb, although you can have a peek inside if there's a volunteer on site. The views from the cape are simply stunning. The landscape is harsh and you can only imagine what it was like when the lighthouse was operational. Apparently we missed seeing a pod of whales by a few hours.
